Re: Tommie Harris coming in for a workout

He sucked last year. But he was dominant for awhile. This does scream 4-3 though. Unfortunately.

Re: Tommie Harris coming in for a workout

Interesting, another tackle. He has been ineffective for years now. Doubt he sticks. Looking more and more like a 4-3 base.

Yes, I agree. I think we are going to use a 4-3 more this year. As Ty said they are going with a different D.

Don't like this idea. It makes Spikes irrelevant because of Mayo and because he play OLB. Really doesn't make alot of sense. Hopefully that present coming down the Pike gets here soon.

He Plays MLB!

Re: Tommie Harris coming in for a workout

Before Albert Haynesworth signed his massive contract with the Redskins, guess who the highest paid defensive tackle in the NFL was?

That's right. Tommie Harris.

He's actually two years younger than Haynesworth, though as has already been pointed out, he hasn't played at an elite level in quite some time. He might be done. But it would be interesting to see if he can resurrect himself here on the cheap.

I also don't like the move to 4-3, it will likely cut down on Spikes' playing time, but as the saying goes, it is what it is.

Re: Tommie Harris coming in for a workout

Apparently Mayo was lining up as an olb in the 4-3 base the other day at training, spikes was in the middle.

Re: Tommie Harris coming in for a workout

Would it be crazy to have Mayo and Jermaine on the outside Spikes in the middle, Harris Wilfork Fat Albert Brace DL. I remember Mayo being able to play outside coming out of college anyone know if he has taking any reps this training camp?

Really? That's Pretty Crazy (In a Good Way)

Re: Tommie Harris coming in for a workout

I'm fine with adding Harris. But I wouldn't expect him to get a lot playing time. But's that's fine. If he makes the squad, Harris would be replacing Love or Pryor or Deaderick.

I posted what I thought the 4/3 lineup would look like a couple of days ago...

Spikes-Mike
Mayo-Sam
Cunningham-Will

why would anyone think Spikes wouldn't play the Mike?

Re: Tommie Harris coming in for a workout

Not sure why people hear want JC to be a 43OLB. He is a better 43DE than a 43 OLB. I rather have Ninko or Fletcher playing the Sam, preferably Ninko.

Speed concerns. He had coverage issues in the 3-4, and he'll have more ground to patrol in the 4-3.

I agree if BB is implementing a Tampa 2 4/3...but if he's going to the Giants 4/3 of the nineties, then he'd play like Carson, who didn't cover deep downfield like the MLB does in the Tampa 2.

Hey, we'll find out soon enough what's up...

Re: Tommie Harris coming in for a workout

I'm admittedly a huge OU homer, but when this guy plays he is a beast. He has been hurt for the past couple years which is why his production has been down. If he can be healthy he is a beast. That's a big if, AND I'm a homer for OU so it is what it is.

Re: Tommie Harris coming in for a workout

Speed is negated without a fast read, fast reaction, identification of pursuit angle, and good first step.

Spikes to me can be an excellent MLB becuase he has very good instincts to do all of these. Put Mayo on one side and another quicker guy on the other and I'd think it would be a solid 4-3. Up front you definitely need at least one quick, lean guy like Cunningham to get an outside rush. 4 jumbos up front would be not ideal, IMO

According to camp reports, Cunningham has been lining up as an end in the 4 DL set, which is what he played in college
