With the expectations that both recently added players will play on the team and both stay relatively healthy, what kind of stats for each of our new additions are you expecting?

I will say....

Chad catches 57 passes for 712 Yards with 4 TDs

Haynesworth will have 34 Tackles and 7 Assists and have 3 Sacks

Haynesworth has only played a full season once in his career, his rookie season so those stats could be worse, but this is what I expect from these 2 players.

I expect Ocho to have a season similar to Donte Stallworth and Jabar Gaffney from the 2007 season.....Welker and Branch will be 1 and 2 in stats, yardage and TDs IMO with Chad closer to the TEs in stats.

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

It depends on how chad will be used. He could be a great possession receiver like welker or a good deep threat. Personally i don't like when brady chucks it up like what he did with moss because if the wr makes a bad move the ball will get picked.

Albert haynesworth will be the defensive player of the year and come in second in the comeback player of the year voting.

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

As far as the new receiver goes, it seems to me the first question would be how many yards do you expect the Pats to throw for, and then the second question would be what portion of that does #85 get?

Last year the Pats threw for 4022 yards; Brady for the 3900 and Hoyer for 122. Do we expect more, less, or about the same?

My guess would be slightly less with more yardage on the ground, but for argument sake let's say it's still about 4000 yards.

How does that get split up?

An off the cuff guess:

500 - Ochocinco
800 - Welker
600 - Gronkowski
700 - Hernandez
300 - Tate
300 - Price
200 - Edelman
600 - all the running backs

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

Last year, Branch put up 48/706/5 in 11 games, which prorated to 16 games is 70/1027/7. Ochocinco is a better player than Branch. Hence, I'll go 80/1150/9.

Going along with the 4000 yard projection:
Ochocinco - 1150
Gronkowski - 700
Hernandez - 650
Branch - 600
Tate+Price - 250
RBs - 650

With Welker being traded prior to the season.

For Haynesworth, I'll go with something like his 2007 season, which is his second-best statistically. 40 tackles, 6 sacks.

Ocho, 80 rec 900 yerds 6 TD's

Im on board with you with the Welker thing.

Its not that I dont like him, but there are 2 slot WRs and if you really want to split peas, Woody could play there too IMO. If NE keeps Faulk and Morris or brings back Crumpler, something has to give with the offensive roster spots. Welker has the most value in a trade among the NE WRs besides Ocho. I think teams would be frothing at the mouth to get him.

Could be nothing but...

10. Keep an eye on Julian Edelman as a player who could be a bigger-than-expected contributor on offense in 2011. It's only a few training camp practices, but he seems to have earned the trust of Tom Brady on the field.

BTW Chief, you left off Edelman on your list.

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

I think Chad will be good for about 80/1200 12 TDs.

I don't know about Albert but I don't think you can measure his impact in individual stats but more teams stats if he has a positive impact.

Defensive passer rating 81.3
3rd down % 47.14
Points 313

If he's pushing the pocket like he's capable of I expect all these numbers to be significantly better.

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

I tend to be less concerned about stats and more about how having strength and diversity on O and D will give opposing coordinators and coaches nightmares.

Looking at Johnson's stats from last year he's a good mid range option and seems to run routes well... Brady will love that, but it's Chad's lack of a deep game last year that concerns me, as that's a role I'd hope he can play here.

On D, Belichick always seems to have them playing decent no matter the personnel, but obviously we've got to see more pressure on the QB and good run stopping.

If my eyeballs see good play, I'm happy regardless of what marks might be set statistically.

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

Ball park:

OchoCinco:

65 catches for 1,025 yards and 6 TDs

I think OchoCinco will be the #1 WR although Welker will still get the most catches. I think Branch will be the one to suffer most in the stats department.

Haynesworth:

35 tackles, 4.5 sacks

I think Haynesworth will try this year (or really more hopeful that he will). I think his problems in Washington was conflicts between him and Shanahan and Shanahan wanting to establish his dominance on the team by forcing Haynesworth to the nose misjudging how far Haynesworth would go when poked.

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

The O will score the most points in the league, the D will allow the fewest. Ocho & Haynesworth will be contributors to the Teams success and SB win this season.

Too many weapons to decide how the stats will break out, how will teams defend this O?

Brady will go to whoever is open.

AH &VW will provide a big push up the middle and create lots of pressure opportunities for the other DL and LB. That will outweigh the 8 sack they generate. This will be a dominate Defense.

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

Ocho 90 rec's 1330 yards

Haynesworth 48tackles 9 1/2 sacks

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

Ocho 90 rec's 1330 yards

Between our TEs, RBs and existing WRs I have a tough time thinking that any WR on the Patriots would see that much attention from Brady.

Brady and Belichick like to spread the ball as much as they can, Randy Moss in 2007 nothwithstanding when I think they went overboard focusing on Moss in the offense.

All the capable receivers will get their looks and get their completions - statistically it might not be as impressive to have no WR on the team go over 1000 yards - but from a game plan standpoint that drives opposing teams crazy.

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

Chad had 67 rec, 831 yards and 4 td's in 14 games last year. I have a hard time time thinking he'll do worse than that this year. I'll guess 85 rec, 1150 yards and 8 td's in 16 games. Pats with the highest scoring offense in the league again.

I expect Haynesworth to have a good year. I'm not sure what he'll put up for stats but I expect the defense to improve in all phases.

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

In 151 games, Ochocinco has compiled 10,783 yards, 66 TDS, and 751 catches. He has averaged 71 yards, .44 TD's, and 5 catches per game over his career. If he plays 16 games, thats roughly 1,143 yards, 7 TD's, and 80 receptions. Considering his best years are likely behind him but he is back in a pass-happy and numbers-inflating team, I think he will have the following statistics:

1,050 yards
6 TD's
66 receptions

Haynesworth is a bit more complicated. He has played 110 games in his career, with 241 tackles, 83 assists, and 30.5 sacks. He has averaged 2.2 tackles, .75 assists, and .28 sacks per game over his career. If he plays 16 games, thats roughly 35 tackles, 12 assists, and 4.5 sacks. Since we don't know which Albert will show up and he never really plays a full season, my expected stats are:

30 tackles
10 assists
3.5 sacks

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

I'm hoping for around 75% of Haynesworth's best, which should be around 6 sacks and say 30 tackles. His impact will reverberate throughout the scheme, though, and along with some improved health and experience, the defense should get better. Overall, I'm expecting 40+ sacks, 20+ INTs, and less than 300 points allowed.

As for Ochocinco, so long as we stay dedicated to the run game, I don't anticipate too many 1000 yard receivers in our near future. I think he'll come close to leading the team with something like 900 yds and 8 tds. I think the team will lead the league in scoring again, and have yardage totals something like 4300 passing and 2100 rushing. I'd go so far as saying Brady has an outside shot at 40+ passing tds, seeing as how every receiver on the team outside of Branch should improve (Welker further removed from his injury, everyone else entering their 2nd or 3rd season.)

Should be a fun year.

He had less competition at WR last year too. I expect a similar season.

Re: Realistic Stat Expectations For Chad Ocho & Haynesworth

trade welker??? w/ an injured Edelman likely to happen in season.

Ocho will make welker wide open. You don't trade wes welker

Less competition also means more attention from the defense.
