If this was all about a fumble vs. the Jets, I would have thought Faulk would have been long gone with his fumble history. Gabriel was in the doghouse for a lot more than a fumble.I honestly don't understand why this idea that Gabriel was benched just for the fumble vs. the Jets still persists.
It's just an absurd notion, and is easily recognizable as the utter stupidity it is when subjected to the slightest scrutiny.
Faulk's had a fumbling problem for years, and never got benched. Dillon's had some really crushing fumbles, and never got benched. Ben Watson's fumbled a bunch of late, and never got benched.
Sorry, but players don't get benched for one fumble. It doesn't happen.
There's been something else going on with Gabriel. It probably started well before the Jets game. Heck, it could have started as early as the Broncos game in which he didn't come on until the 4th quarter.
We don't know. It will be a while before we do. So if we can only speculate, at least let's try to speculate intelligently.
Exactly. You don't know all of the circumstances. Let's just admit we don't, and won't. If you want to draw the conclusion that he was treated "unfairly" without fully knowing what you're talking about, go ahead. He appears to be angry at this release, and quite frankly, I am of the opinion that he wasnt treated fairly..but not knowing all the circumstances, who am I to say...
Look at the bright side: If they hit on all of their trades, then nobody will ever trade with them.BB/Pioli's record as traders has taken another blow. After a
good trade for Corey Dillon, they traded for Duane Starks, Andre
Davis, and Doug Gabriel.
That's a good point, although we hope they try to make every deal a good one. Some of the other NBA teams' front office guys came out and said they wouldn't deal with the Celtics any more back in the 80s because of what Red had done to them over the years. Good old Red.Look at the bright side: If they hit on all of their trades, then nobody will ever trade with them.

wow
I wonder if we will ever find out the real reason
They're also willing to cut their losses too. Some teams just keep deadweight so their "record as traders" looks good. Same with draft picks.BB/Pioli's record as traders has taken another blow. After a

Hope this is a sign that Chad Jackson is getting healthy. I suspect Jabar Gaffney picked up the offense faster, and has been more dependable, than Gabriel. One thing I really don't understand is why we would release him now - why not wait til the off-season and deal him for...even a 7th. Oh well.

He has barely been playing so they obviously haven't been overwhelmed by his total skill set.how can you release someone with Gabriel's skills?
