Somebody better drive over to Indianapolis and see if someone left the gas on. That team has more holes than swiss cheese and not only do they not have a QB under contract, the only move they've made is to renew Adam Vinatieri. Is their big plan to punt on first down?

Anybody got anything on the Colts?

I've heard they are getting ready to be Ushers at their stadium when the Pats arrive in February.

They are trapped until Manning extends. Being held hostage by lurch. And actually they have a QB under contract (young guy they signed from the 49er's I believe) and Pey-me has the exclusive franchise so he might as well be under contract. Think he'll skip the 24 million this year if they don't extend him?

I was thinking about this too..they are probably busy getting all the cash together to slide manning under the table without anyone knowing so they can sign him for less.

Sirius NFL radio guys who know their stuff were surmising that in signing Peyton Indy was doomed to also ran status because there would be too little left to field a robust team. Indy is screwed. We are SO fortunate...owner, GM/Coach, Brady. The list goes on.

I expect less visits by Colts fans here this season.

what holes do the colts have?

they never make a splash in free agency anyway (same as pats steelers and chargers)

pats never make a FA splash, they make trades......

I'll believe it when I see it.

Every season, all the critics come out of the woodwork and proclaim that THIS is the year the Colts become an also-ran. And THIS is the year the Texans make the playoffs.

Every year, the Colts win the division, and the Texans disappoint.

It's a few days into the FA season. I can't stand Polian and Co, but they've proven over the past few years that they can find contributors who aren't necessarily big names. I'm not counting them out until Manning is in the radio booth instead of on the field.

Could this be the year that the Texans stop finding new and inventive ways to throw games against the Colts?

What he said.

We are in at least year 7 or 8 of threads in this forum predicting the Colts inevitable decline to 6-10 or worse. They will still have Manning, Clark, Garcon, Collie, and Wayne putting up points, Freeney/Mathis rushing the passer when they have the lead, and they still play in a weak division.

that pretty much sums it up

as long as peyton's there, they're a contender.

now if shocker of all shocker's happens and peyton gets traded (lol) then they're in deep deep trouble

Probably not.

re: Indianapolis? Hello? Anyone home? (merged)

Of course they're a contender still; the question is have they gotten any better?

re: Indianapolis? Hello? Anyone home? (merged)

Seems like some othe afc division that people say that one team will over take one team and then they end up not wining the division and the other team wins it year after year.

As a regular Indy dude, what would be your thoughts if Polian blew the team up (Manning, Wayne, Feeney, Mathis, Clark.....) and loaded up on tons of picks to rebuild?

If I were them, I's be tempted and get into the Luck sweepstakes.

Their offensive line is very unsettled with some sub-par and older players and their best lineman, Charlie Johnson still a free agent. The Colts do not have a running back - as of this moment Addai was unsigned and Donald Brown didn't work out so far. At safety, Bob Sanders is retired and they've lost a key linebacker in free agency. Sort of a mess. They have a huge amount tied up in very few players and not much they can do until they re-sign Manning with his surgically adjusted neck.

Aging stars, terrible recent drafts, losing free agents.. not a good situation in Indy.

Actually, Manning isn't under contract YET. :)

He's a regular SD dude...

They are beginning to turn on each other (and even Peyton a little) as opposed to the pats trolls over on Coltfreaks. Irsay's rambling half in the bag between a rock and a hard place (of his own creation) tweets aren't helping that situation. They for the most part seem to REALLY want to see Peyton step up and be a team player and tell Condon to do a deal that insures there is a team around him on the road to retirement. Good luck on that. They are praying for a deal that averages $20M or less. Based on Brady's $18M new money average (that will actually average $16M against the cap thanks to it dumping several million of it into the uncapped year when he signed his extension in 2010).

re: Indianapolis? Hello? Anyone home? (merged)

They should sign Marion Barber.
