Giants, Patriots have interest in Jets' Smith

Torched us for 2 TDs on returns last year

Since NY and NE are usually doing the annual player swaps each year AND since Belichick loves to get a player who has hurt his team in the past then Smith would be ideal here.

We would have a great addition to the WR corps and he would be our main return man and even as a third emergency QB is Hoyer is traded.

I think the Jets did not let smith show his true potential as a WR because the Jets were always focued on Keller,Holmes and Edwards.

To me this is a no brainer to sign him if the Giants don't...this guy would be a tremendous addition to the offense and STs

No thank u.I rather have Chad Johnson then Brad Smith.

Aren't the Giants still trying to get under the cap? The Pats are in position to add anyone, I have not heard a peep out of this team other than Mankins and TBC.

UGH....

Tate is gone then since he essentially fills the same role.

Not a name I was looking forward to having interest in. He's okay but I really don't see how he makes a huge impact on the offense

The Patriots have no money right now according to miguel. You have to consider 5.8 mil for rookie pool and theyre under the cap roughly by 3 million. Thats not alot of room for signings.

No thank u.I rather have Calvin Johnson then Brad Smith.

It would seem to me that having him at KR would mean either that Tate is done or that the team feels Tate needs to focus only on WR.

So would I, but lets say that Calvin Johnson would cost Caviar Dollars while Brad Smith would cost Tuna Fish Dollars

Smith is a good depth utility player. He can do a lot of things, but he clearly would be only a dozen or so plays a game type of player if that. Still need a starter or #3 WR IMHO.

Maybe ,Pats need to get get someone at this point

No.

We already have this guy on our team.

His name is JULIAN EDELMAN- - a better WR, KR, PR and QB than Brad Smith.

(The previous poster should have seen that one coming, given his sig! :D )

lol past my cheeky facade, the point I was trying to make was Brad Smith adds a dynamic and consistent return threat as well as a versatile weapon for the offense on screens, reverses and other gadget type plays. Theres no comparisson between Brad Smith and Calvin Johnson, Chad Johnson or any other legitmate wide receiver. Apples to Oranges.

Yes.

fixed.....of course this all comes down to what type of money smith thinks he's getting.

what has julian edelman ever done to suggest hes better than brad smith. i like edelman, but he has not been as good as smith, and it hasnt even been close

Very good point. Then again who would of imagined at this time a year ago that Danny Woodhead would turn into an valuable player for us so maybe BB has foreseen that with Brad Smith.

I'll see if I can dig it up, but someone on twitter this morning said there was nothing to this rumor.

Because Smith was needed more for the Jets than Edelman was for us. Hence, more opportunities for Smith.

Why? We go through this fairly regularly. Other teams make big, quick splashes and the pats are more deliberate. It has worked out pretty well so far.
