First CBA for both guys. How do you think they did?

I give both a B-. I haven't followed the negotiations very closely until recently when it started to pick up steam. It seems to me both sides spent a lot of time doing absolutely nothing and screwing around in court. Then once they actually went back to negotiating things progressed quickly. At the end of the day though the draft took place, no games were missed and that's what I really care about. It's unfortunate that the preseason is shorter but I won't lose any sleep over it.

C not a fan of this 1. I miss old CBA

Jetdell...I.....an A if you're a Jet fan...but really, the other 31 teams got nothing from him of consequence

The deal got done because Smith was smart enough to realize that Bob Kraft was the key owner and that the doltish Jetdell was basically a worn out vaudeville puppet, mouthing words from whomever held the strings on the owner's side.

Smith gets a B+ from me...basically for having the courage to stand up and reach out to Kraft. The sad thing is it took so long for this to occur.

I'll grade them both with an "F"
And my conduct grade of a "U"

B, they got the job done and only missed one crappy preseason game nobody watches anyways. Got a new CBA on a 10 year deal with no opt out that looks pretty good with rookie wages and what not. Not much to hate on.

See, posts like this make me raugh out roud. Yeah, yeah, we all know Goodell's old Jets connection, but seriously, not only am I the first person to crap on Goodell whenever possible, I'm also thinking for wildly different reasons.

Bonfire of the Tapes, *caugh CAUGH*. A vaudeville puppet? Haha, you said it, not me. Agreed yet how selective. If Goodell wasn't in Kraft's corner on that one, you're out of your mind, buddy.

Mike Westhof..is that YOU???

C+ for both of them. There was no way this deal couldn't have been done six months ago. Neither side got a huge win in this negotiations. Also, they hurt the season this year and potentially hurt the game for the next ten years with no double sessions, only 14 padded practices during the season, and less offseason activities.

Caught???Like Goodell caught Mangini and the Jets, and Denver, for the same so called offense, having a camera(cameras in the Jet case) on the sideline???Oh wait...Goodell did NOTHING to the Jets. Fined NE a million dollars and robbed them of a first round pick...the Jets???nothing to see here...move along...oh wait, Blubbaguts Wrecks is publically DRUNK throwing his middle finger to the general public with little girls watching...oh well..a 25 K fine....serial drunk driving WR putting the public at risk all season with his criminal conduct??...oh, wait...just don't do it again, says good ol' Rog...Sal Alosi leading an organized tripping party on the sideline nearly seriously injuring a Dolphins player during a game??? Oh well, as long as Wrecks says he didn't know anything about it, no harm no foul says Roger the Green...anyway, Mike Westhof said it was the Patriots who made Alosi do it so...IT MUST BE TRUE. Toe sucking ,sexual deviance, abhorrent fringe of society behaviour..oh wait...Rog says respect Blabbagutz's feelings..."private matter".

Deviance, cheating, drunkards, deadbeats, statutory rapist QB's, dysfunctional, sociopathic anger management flunkouts like Blart Scrott...you're right Rat fan,Goodell is taking care of his buddy, Bob Kraft.

Once again, is that YOU, Mike Westhof?

It's Westhoff, actually.

I'm not out to defend my team's crimes against humanity nor our itinerant pukes. You should try to do the same, and what a foot fetish has to do with being fined and sanctioned in the past is beyond me. 'I know you are, but what am I' has never been a good defense. Heh.

It's just too easy.

well...thanx for the reply Mike...and next time I'll spell it right when you have one of your fits and blame everything from the earthquake in Japan to Hurricane Katrina on the Patriots....

WESTHOFF SPEAKS!

Yeah but you're a Chargers fan so you have other issues you should attend to first.

According to Jeff Saturday, the credit for getting this deal done rests squarely on Bob Kraft's shoulders. I see no reason to doubt him.

That means Goodell and Smith not only let the delays, court filings and posturing drag on to the 11th hour, but failed to lead the way to a solution, period. Isn't that a clear F?

obviously, but i think he's done a great job

seems super fair to me

Hardly fair. Overreacts without thinking things through. Scary bad commissioner. Never apologizes for erroneous deeds or mis-deeds. Stiff in front of the camera. Terrible figurehead.

How? They got the season started on time and got a good new cba. An F would of been had we missed the season or agreed to a very bad cba.

The process ultimately succeeded, so the process gets a decent grade. But if these 2 highly paid "leaders" could accomplish nothing without Mr. Kraft having to leave his dying wife's side to take charge, how can you score them, personally, as not failing?
