is playing his way out of Boston.

A. Scott Boras
B. The kids the real deal Pop and Speed
C. Adrian's deal Crawford's deal. SP deals

is it a foregone conclusion he is outta here???

"Ellsbury entered 2011 with 20 career homers in 1,374 at-bats, but he's hit 15 in 389 at-bats this season. All the extra power has taken a toll on his steal total, but that's a perfectly fair trade for the Red Sox"

as for his contract he has '12-'13 arb year left on it. 12-13 has to be just 1 year. What the **** do the Sox do when this kid's contract is up? If he reciprocates this same production do we let the yankee's offer him the world or do we go toe to toe w/ them???

Production = playing your way out of Boston? The Sox have proven they pay for production. Why not keep one of our home grown talents for a change? He's very good in CF, something which needs to remain that way at Fenway.

yes it does. With all the BIG $$$ we just spent do you see another Carl Crawford like deal happening here? I really hope we bring him back. PRODUCTION='S BIGGER contract before FA'cy hits the following year... we have 1 more year of him

Theo and Boras actually have a great working relationship. Im not worried

Plus Theo has proven he pays for production and Ellsbury is finally healthy and producing.

You'd think J.D Drew's contract will come off the books after this season. There's a big slice of pie to start playing with then it comes to Jacoby.

Jacoby is the real deal. IDC if we have to give him the world, but he is worth it. He definately gets more than Crawford $$$ make an 8 year deal. We need this kid in our future. Boras will demand sooooo much, but IDC. I wonder if Boras wants him to hit FA'cy despite a GREAT Sox deal b4 next years offseason when he is a FA

A true #1 hitter 27 y/o LHB Speed Pop good kid.
We better sign him. JH has the $$$ Sox Bullriding Car Racing Liverpool are a handful of his business. If we gotta be like the yanks and pend very close to what they do SO BE IT. The Bullriding Circuit is BIGTIME $$$ believe it or not. It sounds silly, but look it up I read an article the soccer 1 that spoke of the Bull business and its popularity and growing revenue.

considering scott boras is his agent and the trouble ellsbury had last year with the medical staff the front office. and everything else that surrounded that injury situation. i think there's a very good chance hes gone 50/50. one thing is for sure hes going to become a free agent. no way he signs early like youk lester or pedroia. if your not worried you should be.

Now Jacoby's proving to be a clutch hitter. Outside of JD Drew you've got to wonder what influence Adrián González has had on this ball club with the lefties. That or Dave Magadan is some sort of genius.

Dude stays none of the Big markets need CF ,Ells stays in Boston

things can change in the next 2 and a half years before he hits free agency. also teams will be more than willing to move players to different positions to accommodate ells.

I am worried:( Do you think the medical faux pas is going to push him towards leaving??? $$$ speaks volumes and I hope we give him the world:cool:

When the Sox signed Crawford to that absurd contract, I openly wondered why since they already had a Crawford on the team by way of Jacoby Ellsbury. From what I've read and heard over the years, Ellsbury is the type of player that wants to play out his years till free agency. His having Boras as an agent lends credence to that. Obviously the Sox have a history of locking up players before they hit free agency, but those guys (pedroia, lester, youk) are different animals than Ells is. Lester had cancer, and the latter 2 of high intensity dirt dog guys who love playing in Fenway. Not to say that Ellsbury doesn't like Fenway, but he comes across as more of a delicate soul so to speak. Of the group, he seems like the most likely to seek the largest deal. When he sees Crawford sign for $142 million to play LF, he's got to wonder what he's worth in CF. He's going to be looking for $20 million per I'd think, or $15 million per at a minimum. I don't think the Sox would pay that to two identical OF'ers. They'd probably prefer to invest that in a power bat, corner OF type. You can only have so many $10-20+ million players on your roster. In 2013 I think the higher dollars start to kick in on the other 3 who signed early too. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I'd imagine that the Sox might even consider trading high on Ellsbury this offseason, if they know a long term deal will be difficult. With 2 years of control left they'd get a serious haul I'd think.

come 2013 versus today Drew's contract is gone and there's also a good chance 8-figure contracts are gone for Ortiz and Papelbon, so even with other contracts kicking in, there are offsets.

I think the main thing is his age -- he's older than I thought, turning 28 this year. So when he reaches FA, he'll be 30 -- could be his only shot at a huge deal. So my guess is he will listen to offers from the Sox and maybe forgo a bit of $ for the security, particularly after last year's fiasco. but they're not going to be able to lock him up cheap.

2.5 good.

If this kid keeps playing like this... Even at 30 y/o I would throw a 7 year deal @ him. JH is a business man. Liverpool, Bull Riding Circuit, Car Racing and other interests. If Jacoby is the real deal how can you not possibly sign him? He is basically equal in BA vs. LHP and RHP the kid has power now and he can run. He is a FANTASTIC leadoff hitter that I would want here for as long as A-Gone.

Papi will be off books soonenough and that big cap hit disappears.

Lackey is on final year in 2014

Paps is gone. Scoot Tek will be gone

you can't let this kid walk

just fyi, tek doesn't get paid much -- low 7 figures

w/e, I thought 2 something... but anyways my point is we HAVE the $$$ for 2014 to extend Ells. Lackey could probably be traded in 2013 or 2014 and you have to consider that as well/ We have solid finances for 2014:)

Papi is a WASTE of $$$ in the future. We do NOT need a fixed DH

Papi is big $$$ off books and his time is coming to an end. I offer him 2 yrs MAX if we go over theo should be shot.
