Due to injury, Ken Walters is on this team not because of his ability to punt, because he has none, but because he is a consistent place holder. IS THAT THE CORRECT READ? It has to be. He sucks beyond human comprehension, yet he is employed because of his ability to catch a hiked ball, bring it to the ground, spin it to its proper position, and put his pointy finger on top of the ball...all so the placekicker who BB is reluctant to use has a better chance of making a kick.
So BB's dilemma is ...awful field position but good placeholder or the next best punter in the league available that provides better field position but sketchy placeholding skills. It's mindboggling that BB is willing to let Walter continue to mangle punting duties and add 40-60 yards of field position for the opposition.
Let me offer 2 solutions that will adhere to the organizational mantra of cost effectiveness.
1) Troy Brown. Simply add placeholder responsibilities to his list of duties. I won't get into the fact Troy is the most underpaid player in the entire NFL. The guy has great hands, great concentration, and a great attitude.
2) Matt Cassell. What else has he got to do?

Belichick's blind spot for this guy is mind boggling. I'm sure we have plenty of guys who have held for kicks before and could easily do it again. Every time we punt from inside our 40 I'm scared to death and most of his punts from the 50 yesterday were horrendous (except for the excellent one that Pass blew with the illegal formation).

Why do they have a punter on the practice squad if there not going to use
him? Give me a break you dont have to be a genius to hold for
a kicker .I should know i did for 3 years in college

The possible answer is he had a knee injury last year and I have no idea if he's 100%. But if he is, let's go. His bad can't be worse than Walter and almost any kicker has a better upside.

You must be related to him or a fan of another team. Or you're Bill Belichick.

No-one else likes this schmuck.

One thing I noticed yesterday from the profile view was that even in a helmet, his nose looks huge. Perhaps if he got a nose job it would lessen the counterweight and he could get more torque out of his leg.

I thought he played pretty well in yesterday's game. Of all the problems the team has, Ken Walters is not one of them.

I believe that if you are not part of the problem, you are part of the solution.

My favoirte Walter punt was when he kicked it from the 40 yard line and it was fair caught at the 23(?)

A 35 yard punt that had so little hang time that the coverage hadn't even gotten there yet is awfully hard to do.

Walter is just inexcusably bad. It is funny that Belichick- a guy who's made a living being smarter than others by making decisions despite the human toll- has such a soft spot for Walter. I had no faith in him at anytime yesterday helping us flip field position on Miami. In fact, I have now adopted "Walter" as an adjective. Whenever someone kicks a ball 30 yards, they "Waltered it."

Isn't that a verb? :D

Jeezus. Reiss really does get down and dirty for his info, huh? ;)

Sorry, I don't mean to play grammar police, I just thought it was funny that it happened in your response to my post.
