We don't have the details but, according to most of the reports, the player percentage of the pie is dropping to between 46.5%-48% of the pie, when they'd previously been getting from about 50+% to 53%. My rounding was approximate, so that part could be off a bit, but the drop is significant.

From what I read they were getting just over %50 of the pie AFTER 1 billion (and ajustments) was taken off the top. Reports are they will now be getting around %48 of the entire pie. That percentage can be ajusted down to %46.5 over the years (Don't remember how or why). But over all they made out about the same in this regard I believe.

In 2006, they got 52.7%. In 2009, they got 50.6%. They're now going to be getting between 46.5% and 48%. That's a big difference. Of course, we don't know if additional revenues were added, or if some were removed, so we're just taking best guesses at this point.

FalconsJAdams-Owners are taking a 10 minute break. NFL Network said a vote is expected in next 30 minutes.

Got this off another forum from a Falcons fan, quote is obviously from Twitter.

Hey...someone stole my tagline that I stole....:p

NFC executive in personnel just said his club has been told that training-camp rosters will be expanded from 80 to 90 players. #packers

Ok, here's where we are on labor. Both sides ready to approve settlement with conditions, but there's still a significant staredown...

...Players say nfl lawyer bob batterman wants them to agree to adhere to terms of 2006 cba on non-compensation issues...

...Players want to recertify and THEN negotiate new terms...

Issues in play include: Discipline-grievance process, drug testing/substance abuse, disability bens, pensions, work rules, health & safety

That is MASSIVE.
Who knows if it is accurate.
If so, the players are saying they would like to re-open terms before agreeing.
If that is accurate, either they cave, or this lock-out is not as close as we have been lead to believe.

Multiple sources are saying the owners are voting on this currently.
The players opted not to vote yesterday, and may not approve today.

Many folks threw out the date of July 15 as the deadline to avoid missing games. As we inch past that, the first week of preseason games get trickier to schedule. And then the revenue picture changes - and then the cap.

On the percentage of the pie question:

Yes, as others have pointed out, the definition of the pie has changed.
It used to not include the ice cream. Now it includes ice cream and coffee.

That is, there was a negotiated split in the 50% range of a net pie after fees were removed for investments and so forth. The new pie includes the a larger definition of revenues, no removal for investments, but a lower percentage.

Ignore all that and consider the total salary cap.
It's gone down a bit.
Thus, the players are getting a bit less money.
I recall that the 2009 cap was $127mm. The 2011 cap is supposed to be $120mm. There may be more in benefits - you probably need to consider both cap and benefits. But it looks like less money to the players, which is what the owners wanted.

how long does it effin take for the owners to vote. Theyve been standing outside the room for an hour now! I swear the NFL is just doing this so that we watch effin rich eisen and michael lombardi. This is so effin annoying

Rumors of delays so Jackson and Mankins could get special payments didn't go over well.

If the rumors of players interested in delaying to change discipline and drug testing spread, that won't play well either.

They were getting between just over 50% and just over 53% of the total pie, they were getting 59% of the pie after the billion (which was not an exact number) was taken off the top. Now they will reportedly get between 47-48% or less if (but not less than 46.5%) based on stadium funding expenditures

De Smith and Roger Goodell have been on phone the past hour, trying to work out a way to lift lockout if both sides approve deal tonight.

The holdup seems to emanate from the idea that the association thinks its voting on a settlement that will lead to negotiating a CBA...while the owners are determined to vote on a settlement that IS the CBA...

Mike Lombardi has insisted all day that the owners want to vote on what is in effect a CBA today and they are leaving tonight because most of them will be in Newton tomorrow attending a memorial service. They have now ordered dinner after planning all day to vote by 5:30. The Ravens owner left already and gave someone his proxy. They are not willing to vote on a settlement that players like Pitts insist will then lead to further negotiation of a CBA... It all hinges on the re-certification process which can be done electronically but the association says it wants to do by hand, either snail mail or via owners opening facilities before a deal is done.... The owners learned a lesson last time out, and had it reinforced in the last 24 hours, if you vote on a deal it better be a done deal.

Owners have just approved ....

They ratify proposal to end lockout

Players have to vote ...conference call coming at 8pm

NFLN is reporting that the owners have voted and approved a settlement (not a CBA per se). Now the union reps have to vote on it, and then send it to the plaintiffs to vote on, and then vote to re-certify and then vote to ratify (owners may have to vote to ratify a CBA too...). Now we have to wait and see how this changes the timelines going forward.

31-0 with Crazy Al abstaining

Vote was 31-0

Al Davis abstained .....LMAO

Did he even know what he was there for??

LaCanfora with the ice water. Players will not vote tonight on settlement terms. Issues still remain...:bricks:

Owners have approved a new supplemental revenue sharing deal for 10 years.

Camps can open Saturday. New League Year Wednesday. Subject to union recertifying by then.

HOF game cancelled.
