Ty Warren & Jerod Mayo don't miss tackles

You'll never guess who tops the worst of the DBs with a ratio of 4.33. It's simply amazing that some dingbats still rate Asante in their top 5 CBs. Asomhuga came in at 4th worst.

So, Wilfork is apparently one of the worst as well?

Hmmm....

Vince is doing his job ..Mayo is getting the tackles...;)

Interesting to see Asomugha up there....always felt like he was a pretty good run supporter.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned they have Big Vince amongst their worst DTs for tackling. Of course, it is PFF, the source is admittedly a bunch of hacks, so it doesn't concern me much. Missed tackles if awfully subjective, and when you ask a bunch of amateurs to turn the subjective into objective, you get mixed results.

You mean other than the article SPECIFICALLY POINTING HIM OUT? The article notes that a number of top defensive linemen actually have terrible ratios.

I suspect this is because those guys are the ones you manage to fight through double teams to get close enough to the ballcarrier to get an "attempt." Lesser DLs wouldn't even be able to get close enough to get an attempt.

There needs to be a forum wide ban on anybody referencing PFF. I'd rather quote Big Bird and the Cookie Monster inventing stats than those muppets.

I'd be happy with a simple disclaimer in the title. "Per PFF.....". Then, if Ian ever adds the ignore thread option, people such as you and I can just make the thread invisible.

Wilfork can miss twice as many tackles as long as he continues to make by far and away the highest number of tackles out of anyone on those lists.

Ummm...

Kids??

This garbage comes from PFF!!

Anyone who attributes any weight or credibility to that Site needs a Keeper.

Quite true. Aside from the concept of assigning 'missed tackles' (what happens to the grading of a defensive player that is so out of position he's not even or barely on the tv screen?) versus tackles made, there are players who are good enough to draw double teams versus those that don't, and along with that players that are good enough that plays are specifically drawn up to avoid going towards him. In addition different players at the same position have different roles; in one scheme the idea may be to force a player wide where the WLB ends up getting the most tackles; in another it's the ILB/MLB who will get the most tackles; and in another it may be a defensive lineman rather than a linebacker.

Not only are these numbers questionable, so too is looking at total number of tackles or sacks. If you look at those numbers you probably should have two lists: one for teams that primarily play a 3-4, and another for 4-3 defenses.
