Darnell has to go. Nancy sucks. Reddick should take RF
so who do we add??? we should DFA Drew imo:cool:

out of all the rumors floating around the one i would love to see happen is a deal involving matt garza. you can never have enough good starting pitching.

Cubs want too much and he commands too much $

Heath Bell intrigues me but he is 33...

Jenx worries me

I still like Pence alot!!!! we need to DFA Drew. He is a RHB w/ power and average. It is a shame all of our OF prospects are LHB. But, then again Linares will be ready next year. If we look to win this year we need a Pence type RHB in OF.

I really love Reddick in RF
When will he take over like lowrie did to Scutaro?
We need a better platoon for RF than Darnell JD and Reddick. Darnell has to go

Reddick Pence would be amazing. Reddick is cheap but a LHB and tito is to dumb to realize how he can handle LHP. My alarm is how long will he be able to hit those LHP

Ryan Larvanway could be an awesome PH come playoffs. I personally would stay put and look for a minor player that can play multiple positions and is a RHB w/ avg or power or both.

Pence Reddick for RF is very tempting. DFA Drew.

Pence will be expensive to trade for and won't want to be a platoon player (nor should he be).

If they trade for Pence it means the end for Reddick, and maybe for Kalish (though Kalish may just be question mark right now due to injuries).

Drew isn't being DFA'd -- no upside to doing it, particularly given his upside and how much he is paid. I could see them picking up a righty OF bat like Ludwick, but I don't think that kind of guy will do much unless Drew or somebody else goes down.

Curious whether they're in on Mike Adams or other bullpen arms (not Bell -- will require too much in trade).

Th Astros aren't likely to move Pence. I think they'd have to be blown away, which is certainly possible, but probably not likely.

Ludwick would be a nice fit. Hitting in Fenway versus Petco would definately help him.

I don't think the Cubs will move Garza. They hope to contend next year.

Jose Reyes.

Ubaldo Jimenez.

With Crawford coming back Reddick should go to RF. He's shown he's more than capable. Darnell McDonald (perish the thought) is starting to show a glimpse of form. Perhaps a 3 man rotation at RF with Navarro or Kalish as a depth options.

I'm more intrigued by pitching. Every year it seems like the same thing with the Sox; injuries to key pitchers.

I assume Reddick will share right w/Drew, even though both are lefties. Navarro won't be a factor in OF, and neither will Kalish this year, last I heard (injuries).

It's the same with all teams re. pitching. That's why people who say we have enough pitching at the start of the year are fools.

I also love Reddick and think he will be a solid RF so no need to spend the money there.....Make Reddick the starter and platoon Darnell and JD in the OF and we will be fine there....

I would love to see us give up quite a bit (not the entire farm though) to get Jose Reyes....This team would be ridiculous with the explosiveness of Ellsbury, Reyes, Crawford and the power of A-Gonz, Youk, Papi and Pedroia has a mix of it all.....Then I would say go for a 3rd or 4th Starter....We don't have to go after a #1 especially giving up what we would have to get reyes....What this allows us to do is sign reyes to an extension and have our infield set for the future.....Looking at the past drafts we have focused on OF, C, Pitching anyways so we seem to have good talent in the minors at those positions......The only way I wouldn't trade for reyes is if the sox think Iglesias will be the long term answer at SS but if we traded him in the reyes deal, I wouldn't be mad either......Anyways I believe RF will be fine and we should look to upgrade SS, SP.....

If Reyes could be relied upon for a year like this year, it would be a no-brainer, as a top-flight FA at a position of need for us. But there are a lot of question marks with him, as I've stated in another thread.

If we're going to go hard after a FA, make it Sabathia when he opts out. Would cost us only $ (versus $ and prospects for Reyes), he's proven himself in a big market (yes, Reyes is NY, too, but not the same attention to the Mets as the Yanks) and the AL East and it would remove the Yanks' ace and only reliable starter. (Granted, for that reason they'll probably pay him anything to stay.)

i dont want anything to do with jose reyes. hes a guy like jed lowrie except worse. he cant stay on the field. you look at him the wrong way and hes on the dl. no thank you.

His injuries in recent years are one issue with him, but he's an infinitely better player than Lowrie and has shown much more durability.

Jose Reyes.

Ubaldo Jimenez.
I agree with chico that you can never have enough good pitching. Apparently the Red Sox have enquired about Jimenez after the Yankees feigned interest.Should be interesting to see what happens, if anything.

Reddick is an interesting one. I like the idea of him holding down RF with McDonald and Drew platooning behind him in pinch hitting situations. He's shown he's more than capable of that from the small sample of work.

no question hes better than lowrie but reyes is hurt all the time. the last thing the redsox need is another guy who cant stay healthy. i would run not walk away from reyes. the only way i would consider a trade with reyes is if the sox could dump lowrie lol. both of them are made of glass.

that's one of the reasons I wouldn't trade for Reyes, either.

He actually was very durable for several seasons. I don't know if he's had bad luck the past few years or has recurring injuries.

Regardless, he's a guy I'd look at in FA but wouldn't trade for. As an FA my various concerns with him would lead me, if I were GM, to make him an offer, but not one he would take -- it would be shorter and for less $ than he will get elsewhere. (You could also add various inventives and options, but I don't know what the rules are in baseball, and the outcome would be the same given other teams' likely interest in him.)

I don't like him. The Red Sox were the team he best team he handled. He is overpriced and do you really think we can afford that $$$? Lackey is a $$$ contract. What happens w/ future signings???

ERA W-L SO WHIP BAA
3.79 4-7 108 1.30 .246

do you really want to hand over prospects for that? He is 27 and that is the only good thing. We have Dice-K next year as well.

I don't see Garza.... HELLUVA nice 4th starter though:D

Garza would be a very nice addition, but at what cost? Cubs gave up some good prospects to get him, they won't just dump him.
