I would like to see in here at Patsfans who is the best at guessing what the Pats will do FIRST once the CBA is done and FA and other deals start to commence

Will it be to sign Sidney Rice or another prized FA?
Will they instantly work on a deal for Mankins?
Will they release or let go on a veteran like Faulk or Light?

or something else?

What will be the FIRST move the Pats do once the ink dries on a new CBA?

I bet they'll sign a couple of UDFAs.

I agree. Herzlich and a center will be signed first.

Then, when FA starts, I predict a WR and a pass rusher...Roth or Kiwanuka.

Brady will be traded :D

Hard to know what they will do first but UDFA's make the most sense, then I believe they will offer Mankins a deal he will take, after that Light and the rookies. During that time they will go after at least 1 FA they really want and I'm hoping it's Rice, I don't see a pass rusher who fits well enough to start for them.

I think Mankins is coming back, Belichik loves him and wants him here and I don't think the Kraft's will oppose after the labor situation has been resolved, the bad blood should be gone.

Mark Herzlich and John Clay.

I would like Herzlich to get a shot.....

Sign Mankins!

This is wishful thinking - but extend Mankins.

The Pats are in a good place cap-wise, now and in the future, with a lot of players exceeding their contracts thanks to some real good drafting the last few years.

It's time to just pay up for Mankins.

Pay Mankins, but don't overpay.....

Not sure what Wilfork's deal was...

or if a top NT and a top OT should be similar in pay.....

but it might be a decent starting point......

anything is better than getting stuck with a $10mil cap hit.....

This is tough without knowing the timeline on how things will work.

Will they get a day or two to make offers to their own exiting FA or was that time aloted during Jan and Feb before the lockout began?

I would think they would want to lock up Light first but why didnt this happen already?

Depending on how the new cap works they might actually finally be able to figure something out with Mankins.

Throw Faulk into this mix too.

Other than our own guys I think the UDFA prediction makes the most sense. Except are those guys just thrown in the regular FA mix at the same time and if so you might first focus on the bigger splash and then move onto UDFAs.

In the end my prediction is they Re-Up Faulk first. Light might want to test the market for the best money and Mankins will take longer if not just winds up playing on the Tag.

UDFAs right away, and then a slower approach to free agency.

By slower I assume you mean relative to the league because I think everything will be happening pretty damn quick. Otherwise we are talking next offseason:D

Well, unless they decide that there's an OLB with pass rushing skills that they just have to have, I expect that they'll wait out the first couple of days, at least as far as top names go.

1. Kevin Faulk
2. A few UDFAs
3. Gerard Warren
4. Lots more UDFA

And none of the UDFAs will be named Herzlich.

The return of Marques Murrell! :D

With over $113 mil already on the books and a projected cap of $120 the Pats won't be doing much after signing their draft picks.
