A read that gave me some answers and led to some questions. Thanks for the link.

Like why is Light ranked #19 ? Rest of OL looks solid.....:)

No, although one question was in that vein. D'Bust is ranked lower than Light, if those are direct correlations, and I was wondering how long it would be before a Jets fan showed up to complain about that.

Re: Pats NFL's #1 Offensive line (#6) Pass Pro.

Indy is # 1 in pass blocking because Manning gets rid of the ball so quick.

Re: Pats NFL's #1 Offensive line (#6) Pass Pro.

Interestingly enough this dominant top OL hasn't shown up recently for a few games.

Is it possible that we have the Peyton Manning of offensive lines ?

Stroll through the regular season but allow pressure from a 4 man rush once the playoffs start?

It all starts in the trenches... Solder was a good pick.

Absolutely agree. The move in the past couple of yrs to an improved sense of physicality, coupled with added depth, speed, and youth, will put this team in solid contention for another 5 yrs--at least.

Love the Solder pick, it addressed more of a need/value than DE/OLB in my opinion, set us up for a good O-line for the future, gave us depth and youth in the current situation, and provided the much needed 'nastiness' that we all crave. It also should allow us to have better balance in the running game.

I love the past 2 or 3 drafts.

Another reason why the Patriots need to re-sign Logan Mankins as soon as the lockout is lifted.

Totally Agree with this.....would love to see Cannon develop into a top RG also.....he looks like a road grader type...playing him next to Vollmer and Gronk could open some huge holes for the running game :rocker:

Yes.

But that's about to change.

Re: Pats NFL's #1 Offensive line (#6) Pass Pro.

It seems like every new stat I come across makes me and more comfortable with moving past Matt Light as soon as possible.

Yes.

Matt Light and Dan Koppen are ~ no offense intended to these Warriors ~ Marty SchottenHeimer Types.

Good.

Solid.

Reliable.

Hard Workers.

And guys like them will get you in the PlayOffs just about every single year.

But if you want to win the PlayOffs...

If you're referring to that SB that was one of the best DLs in quite some time, that coupled with Neal going down on 1st series made for a tough day. Great 4 man DL and great blitz calls are always a problem. If you're referring to last year I think not, that was not an Oline problem, the Jets flooded the field with DBs and it was all coverage for them. Unforced errors led to that loss.

Those are just excuses....Neal went down...that doesn't allow every other player in the line to get raped....the Giants line absolutely raped them.

And the Jets? If they flooded the field with DB's then why the **** couldn't we run worth a damn against them? Shaun Ellis dominated whoever he was lined up on.

This OL has underperformed in the playoffs...there is no denying this.

Excuses....or facts.

You're simply recalling images the highlight shows focused on, fact is the Pats should have run the ball more (finished w/113 yds, 4.0 avg) with BJGE only getting 9 carries (he averaged 4.8 yds per)!! I'd say if they were a little more patient and committed to the run they would have been more successful in hiding the young D with the injury riddled DL that gave up 120 rush yds for 4.1 avg and 7.8 yds per pass play with no sacks on Sanchez (3 TD, 0 Int). In any case biggest problems in this game, besided unforced errors, were no stops on 3rd down (46% for Jets) and no stops in red zone (Jets were 4-5 in red zone and the Pats 2-4). Can't win playoff games without being successful in those key areas because you're playing a good team, we can't expect the Pats to be perfect on offense all the time. You've got to credit the other team sometimes as well, the Jets forced the Pats to be patient and forced Brady to hold the ball figuring they would physically handle the WRs and young TEs. As much as I hate Rex Ryan I think on occassion he does come up with a good defensive game plan so the Pats needed to play well in more than one phase of the game. Fyi, we did finish with 372 total yds on offense.

I agree..there are several factors...but do you honestly believe that the O-line as a unit played a top notch game?
