The players have been out four months or so now.

With no offseason workout program.
And with no formal testing program.

Do you think the players will come back, um, bigger?

Possible, I reckon we will certainly see a slower pace for the first few matches!

But alot of players are working out! They aren't seeing this as a holiday!

I think Belichick's emphasis on character over the last few drafts definitely helps. I can't see guys like Mayo, Chung, and McCourty not showing up in tip-top shape, and it sounds like Mayo in particular has been checking with guys to make sure they're working out.

By testing you mean PED testing? Are the players out of drug testing right now?

I think the op meant bigger as in juiced up, not fatter. And I doubt it. The guys that use peds today are using hgh, which wasnt tested for anyway. So I doubt much changes in that regard.

I don't doubt it.

Maybe every player on the Pats has, maybe none.....idk. I bet that a good number of NFL players took advantage of the opportunity though.

Did not know that. If HGH is not tested for then everybody should and most probably are taking it. What if somebody is found out to be taking HGH (without testing)? Are there any consequences to that?

No way. If you take HGH you need to be on it for probably a good month or two. Then it stays in your system for a while. Then once the lockout ends the players will come off of it and lose the mass they gained before the season starts. It won't make a difference.

If your taking it during the season, thats another story.

Once you come off that stuff it really doesn't matter if you've been on it or not

If it were up to me, people would have to pass a test demonstrating that they do understand the fundamental concepts about PED's and drug testing before being allowed to post here.

..Hey!! that post looks suspiciously familiar...hmmmm.....

Hehehe, my bad; forgot about the strict qualifications required over here. Let me get a PhD on the subject first and I will come back to engage in the intellectual debate.

And, I was actually serious about the question... why does the NFL not adhere to WADA guidelines for drug testing?

Because that hasn't been agreed upon by both sides in the CBA.

Sawree...I get you and plk mixed up all the time...I'll try to do better...:ugh:

This is new to me... How credible is the NFL drug testing program them? They appear to be catching and suspending people... such as Spikes last year. But not adhering to WADA makes the whole thing a bit suspect and football is a sport that would appear to be a prime candidate for widespread PED use (well... probably not as much as cycling where it is out of this world freaky)

The disparity between good sides and poor sides is going to be rather evident (even more than usual) this season.

I'm not going to get into WADA, so you'll have to take that part up with someone else.

As for the credibility, it's got more than it used to have, and most people I know seem fine with it until media clowns rile them up about HGH or some designer drug.

I feel like I just completely missed the point of this thread. I get it now:p

The league is supposedly taking a hard line on blood testing for HgH as part of this CBA but the union has always been adamantly opposed to blood testing as intrusive and all testing as suspect...

And there was no testing during the lockout.

As for the consequences of getting caught absent testing, ask Rodney...

A lot of things appear to be new to you...

None whatsoever as Rodney Harrison can attest
