With the mad rush of Free Agency to come the importance of focusing and landing your first choice comes to the front. I think most of us will agree on percieved need(OLB/WR/OL)but what position and who will be the first to sign with the Pats? While I think they will be moderate in their signings as usual they do have the needs and the cap room to do plenty. My guess is Malcom Floyd.

big target...River must be a little miffed at all his experienced WR's leaving..that is an interesting guess, J

Kevin Faulk, followed by Gerard Warren, and then a bunch of UDFAs.

Not sure how Faulk would fit in now that we have Woodhead signed long term. I'd be more inclined to approach him and have him either PUP or simply come in half way through the season(ala Seau)for the playoff run when someone else gets dinged. You can almost count on 1 DB, 1 WR and 1 RB going down every year.....at least Taylor is gone so we know it wont be him this year.

Yeah, I give Faulk about a 5% chance of making the week 1 roster, but I think he's done enough for the organization that he earned the right to either compete for a roster spot or be stashed on PUP, and I can't see that contract being hard to negotiate, something like a basic 1 year, $1.5M non-guaranteed deal.

I agree with everything that you said Sciz, except for the 5% chance of making the week 1 roster.

Even though we drafted 2 RB's, I can see the possibility of them not being able to contribute as much right off the bat. Plus we don't even know what we have in either of them, as far as NFL concerns go. Yes, we have Woodhead and BJGE, but as you said, Faulk has certainly earned himself the 'right' to be able to compete and offers experience and an incredible skill set, blitz pickups, and a nose for that first down marker like no one else.

I think many may be a little premature in their assumption that Faulk will be gone. Many of us are incorrectly basing that on the recent draft, and Woodhead's good year, but we can't really predict what Belichick himself is thinking. I would have to guess that Belichick will give him the honor of staying around this one last yr, as long as he is healthy. We certainly have proven that the team is far from afraid when it comes to carrying 5 RB's, and the injury rate is high for the position.

Not that I am necessarily saying that you are 'wrong' or anything, as I would not do that, and the fact is that we simply do not know---but if I had to make a prediction on Faulk based on percentages, I'd give it at least 50%.

First signings will be UDFAs!

Agreed, UDFAs first, then an OL or two.

As for bigger name targets, I really want to see Philly's Quinten Mikell in a Pats uniform.

the pats for some reason like to sign oakland raiders so i say John Henderson,

Marcus Stroud.

1. UDFA
2. The Law Firm
3. Mankins

I think drafting Mallett adds a 3rd QB and that means 1 less positional player and RB may be the likely spot to cut.

I think ST-only or OL, possibly even CB, but yes RB is likely up there too in a lot of minds.

We scrambled to sign him before the lockout...

Ocho Cinco, of course.

Now watch this thread go to heck in record time ;)

Oh, and what about that Nmandi fella? He'd look good in a Pats uni.

Do I think that it's gonna happen? Nope, but a man can dream.

Let me take care of that real quick...before someone else decides to.
He is over the hill, bad locker room example, too much of a distraction, fundamentally incompatible, wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole..... etc. I think I covered everything. Phew..

Apart from the usual UDFA, our own players etc. I think it will be some wide receiver; don't know who though. Moss? Oops, I take that back... or it will go to heck in double plus record time.

Personally, I would like to sign Usain Bolt and teach him how to catch... let me dream a little too...
