One kid I'd be very interested to see in a Bruins uniform is Tomas Jurco. 6'2 193. I'm surprised he slipped out of round 1. This guy has just amazing stick skills. The criticism about him is that he is inconsistent and needs to get better on defense. But Jurco is an extremely skilled player with very good skating ability and a natural showman. Not only that but he plays right wing, which is a real position of need for the Bruins. Just check out the clips in the link below and decide for yourself. Honestly, I don't know if he'll last till 40. He'd have to survive for 10 picks. According to the North American skater list, Jurco Tomas is ranked as #20.

But you have to read that in conjunction with the european skater list as well.

In any case, I'm sure that teams have restacked their boards after Day 1. And I wouldn't be surprised if Tomas was now sitting near the top of the list. If the Bruins get him I'll be thrilled. But I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't last all the way to our pick at 40.

But Chiarelli does his homework, so whoever we get, I'm going to put my confidence in. We already got a huge steal with Hamilton at #9. It might be too lucky to get two steals in a row.

Another guy to look out for at the RW position is Ty Rattie. 6' 170 lbs. He's not as big or as flashy as Jurco but he's yet another skilled Canadian skater whose game has matured recently.

If we gave up our 2nd this yr and a next yr 3 or 2 (if you think he is a can't miss) we would get an early 2 giving our 2 or 4/5 this year A 2, 4/2 puts us in round 2 top 3-5 easy

Nice find. I don't know how many Russians the Bruins have drafted up till now though.

5'11 176. Not a big player by any means. But he might have grown since the time of the article. It's harder to find wingers who can just park in front of the net and score. Those guys are tough to deal with. Khokhlachev sounds like a perimeter winger who makes plays with his skates rather than his strength. Either style works but the Bruins tend to favor the bigger/stronger type players. Marchand is an exception who works well for us though.

Definitely needs to get stronger and has a slight size disadvantage. But considering his production, skill level, and the level of competition he faced, he seems like a pretty good prospect. If he turns into a top 6 winger for us that would be great.

Nice pickup. We got the talent to groom this kid slowly. A little on the small side like Marchand. But if he plays like Marchand he'll do just fine.

For the binky Jurco, he is now a Detroit Red Wing with the 35th pick. Great value.

Damn! Nice pick by the Red Wings. That guy is gonna really entertain the folks in Detroit sometime soon.

Well, there's still some good prospects left, so let's see who else we end up with.

Our 3rd round pick is in: Anthony Camara. LW 6' 194 lbs. Seems more like a tough guy, checking line type of winger. Didn't put up a lot of offensive numbers in Saginaw.

One thing to note about the Bruins draft picks so far is that they are all from the OHL. The Bruins scouted this league heavily. But I wonder why exclusively picks from the OHL in the first 3 rounds? Perhaps they consider this the best hockey league for the type of players they like to develop. It seems the Bruins tend to favor 2-way players who can also play defense at a high level over offense first players.

The thing about Koko as he has been nicknamed, is that he is very young, a 17 year old, yet he ended up being the leading scorer for his club, the Windsor Spitfires. So there's a lot of untapped potential still in this Russian kid.

Here's an interview with his coach. Alex seems to have a very strong work ethic for a kid of his age. He's going to need to bring that will to succeed to the pros if he hopes to crack the Bruins roster.

Alex will be competing against some other talented wingers like Knight and Spooner for an opportunity to come up. So we'll just have to see how the kid matures. Gotta keep in mind he's still only 17 so he has a ways to go before reaching the pros. Marchand needed a couple of years in the AHL before he was ready but he was well worth the wait. He scored 20+ goals his rookie season and tied a playoff record with 11 postseason goals as a rookie. If Alex can do nearly as well once he gets to the pros, he will prove to be quite the pickup.

Oh, speaking of Marchand, who really seems like a one of a kind guy. Just watch this clip where he punches Sedin in the face. And the guy just takes it!! Asked later why he did it, Marchand replied, "I just felt like it." LOL.

I think he will find his way to this team with his scoring ability but he will have to get stronger and learn defense before he is going to find a spot on one of the 4 lines here. I thought it was great value considering a lot of mocks had him going 25-30.

TY. was that not the same EXCUSE that Seguin had against him "he couldn't play DEFENSE " and ends up scoring 3 crucial playoff goals WHEN THEY GAVE HIM A CHANCE. When I look @ the team I want a forward that can dangle and be a pure scorer over his defensive ability.

In today's NHL even the best forwards need to have fore checking ability. The Sedin sisters would have negated our top line if they had just an ounce of fore checking ability in them.

The problem is these forwards taken in the 1st and 2nd rounds are more used to playing with the puck than playing without it. I saw that with Seguin almost every shift he struggled with positioning and movement without the puck.

Also ... Seguin lost almost every 50/50 puck battle he had on the boards. fine if his team played a cycling offense such as the Canucks have but the Bruins play by winning the puck battle on the boards.

I like their 2 picks today in the 1st 2 rounds. Our 1st line D in a few years could be McQuaid / Hamilton ... 2 big guys who are well rounded defending the back for Rask. The team looks nice going forward - no guarantee of a cup but we will be a top 8 or top 6 team going forward for now.
