What I find most valuable about him: He doesn't drop the football.
I hope to see that trend continue.
Glad we've got one decent player on offense, because that Brady guy sucks.
We haven't been the same since we got rid of that Matt guy at quarterback!
Definately a very underrated ability...fumbles can lose a game. The fact that he has reportedly never fumbled is mind-blowing.
Having a no BS runner like him in our lineup is very valuable.
Benny is a whole lot better than most fans thought he was in August of 2010. I fear that he isn't nearly as good as people seem to think of him now. Teams dont spend 2 of their first four picks (and 2 of the top 72 overall) on the RB position when they think it is all sewn up.
My money says Vereen is the starter by the end of the year.
Although I agree with most of what you are saying, there are other major factors that contributed to using their 3rd and 4th picks on the RB position. The Pats only have two RBs signed through next year, and also use a RB by committee approach. This was also a very weak draft class, and I believe the Pats had high grades for both Vereen and Ridley. I also believe that after a year or two, most will refer to those picks as steals rather than reaches.

I agree...nothing wrong with adding some solid depth considering how much of a beating the RB's take throughout the season.
Had BJGE or even Danny gone down at some point during the season we would've been in a world of trouble. All in all they did a good job and provided some consistency in the running game for us.
I fully understand the gaping hole that existed at the RB position going into the draft, which is why I aid before the draft that NE would take someone in the first 2 or 3 rounds.
But I stand by my statement that targetting 2 that high demonstrates that NE felt the RB spot needed an upgrade on the top as well as in the backups.
