Away: Mia, Buf, NYJ, Bal, Cin, Dal, NYG, Ind.

Away schedule looks brutal.

Right now it is certainly not pretty. Strength of Schedule often changes quite a bit from one year to the next, though. But on paper it doesn't look too good.

The other thing is that the whole division gets the same opponents except, I think, two. So even if it's as tough as it looks and hurts our bye chance, we will still not be at much of a disadvantage to win the division.

Our offense will have a full year playing together that will help. Do get me wrong,this is going to be tough. Have alot of draft picks to do alot of things,but who knows what bb going to do. He will do what is best for the team.

Seriuosly though, from a selfish perspective that looks like alot of Sunday at 4, Sunday night, and Monday night games maybe with a few Thursdays mixed in. Turkey day at Dallas? Get your sleep next summer folks.

We sure are going to miss those NFC North teams next year. The Lions excepted. I won't miss them.

I think the last time we didn't play Indy was 2002, and we missed the playoffs. Coincidence?


If you want to really look ahead, look at 2008, we play the AFC west and NFC west. We go to SF, Seattle, Oakland, SD. We will also play at the AFC South winner (Indy?). That will surely suck.

I like the fact that no one threatens the Pats stranglehold on the AFC East.

It annoys me that no team can challenge the Colts on theirs.

I understand how the opponents are chosen. How is home field chosen for each? For instance, how do we know NE plays at Dal? Is is 1st place AFCE at 1st place NFCE. Is NE at Dal pre-set reguardless their records this season?

I was hoping NE would be coming to DC. Oh well.

Er, if we lose to the Dolphins on Sunday and the Jets beat the Bills, they will be be one game behind with a powderpuff schedule to come. My threatened threshold for our stranglehold on the AFCE will have been passed.

Eh, that schedule doesn't concern me. Some of the teams that are "scary" this season, will probably have a little less bite next year. It's kinda silly to assume all of those teams will be as good or even better than they are now.

Besides, the AFC West had the killer schedules this season. I suppose it's just the AFC East's turn to bite the bullet. One game at a time, i'm sure we'll be fine.

Ariman has got it right. So much can change between now and next September.

Coaches, players, injuries, draft, arrests, suspensions, sophomore slumps. Who knows where TO or Tuna or Coughlin or Culpepper or lots of folks will be come 2007. We'll still have Tommy and Bill so I like our chances.

If Indy lays an egg again in the playoffs Dungy could be really teetering. Ditto SD where Schottsie could get the axe if they don't go all the way. And if Leftwich moves on and Young progresses under Chow the AFCS could get tougher for Peyton and Co. Miami could stick with Fumblepepper or cut bait and start over. And Mularkey could bolt for a better career decision. The JETS have to pay Noodle back about $9M in $$$ they incentivized in this years contract after staying healthy for 9+ starts. Half of Cincy's roster could be under house arrest. Who knows what Ben will do to himself this offseason or whether the Chin will retire or reup for a year. McNair's fragility and age could again become issues. McNabb's are beginning to.

Things change so much year to year its always tough to say at this stage of the game - even tough to predict as of Game 1 of the regular season for that matter.

Regardless I'm just not quaking in my boots about any of the NFC teams right now.

And while the home schedule looks easier, if this year's any indication we apparenty need all the help we can while the team toughens up on the road... so maybe in an odd way it balances out nicely for us?
