It wouldn't matter, they'd give their "points" to Moss for getting open.

Interestingly enough Manning received bonus points for throwing into triple coverage to Collie. Collie got negative points for getting knocked the **** out and not holding on to the ball.

Of course, Manning must have made an amazing pass to thread the needle between three defenders while someone was wide open on the other side of the field.

Tom Brady turns and finds that other guy, but he shouldn't get points for that. That guy got open on his own.

Good logic by PFF.

Ah..but that's merely good decision making and reading a defense. It's not like that is something that 90% of the QBs fail at.

IIRC, the guys at PFW in Progress had this guy on the show wh.en he had Brady listed as his 6th choice as an MVP candidate toward the end of last season. In the nicest way, they debunked all his rationalizations.

BOTTOM LINE: for some reason he just doesn't value Brady and he owns his own web site, so he can write what he wants. The point is that just because its on the internet doesn't make it legitimate. The internet is a wonderful method of getting information and discussing opinions. BUT the downside is that you have to be much more careful in sorting out what is real and what is not.

if a UK writer wants to rank the QB of the SB winner #1 im ok with that but that fact that Justin Smith is #2 says all you need to know about how BS this site is at ranking players, it was a good site when it was free just for looking up stats but notting more

This site is well-documented as garbage. Feel free to look up the site's founder and a main contributor. He has worked and still works in the IT field in the UK. Obviously, therefore, he's qualified to dismiss the first unanimous MVP in league history aside.

If you subscribe to PFF, you just paid $99 a year for this clown to make money on the side. Congrats.

Really? I want to hear the opinion of every single media outlet and every single commentator. We are all smart enough to decide for ourselves what we choose to believe and what we choose to dismiss. Why do certain posters try and pre-filter all information for the message board, by always telling us what information we should listen to and what information we should not listen to?

How about adding some media links or sources of your own? Contribute. The Mel Kiper sucks, Dan Shaughnessy sucks, Mike Felger sucks, Ron Borges sucks, Troy Brown should keep his mouth shut, Pro Football Weekly sucks, ESPN sucks, Todd Mcshay sucks, Pro Football Focus sucks, etc, etc, posts get sooooooooooo tired.

Everyone gets things wrong. BB drafted Chad Jackson, Terrance Wheatley, and Bethel Johnson all in the second round. Does pointing out all the times BB was wrong somehow discredit the overall body of work? Of course not, it only makes the guys doing the discrediting seem small minded and controlling.

I actually had to wiki Justin Smith to remind me who he was! I knew the name, but couldn't think who he was!

And as a #2 best player of 2010! I doubt he is even in the top100 in reality!

That'll take a while. Because by your own logic you have to read every single blog and every single post on this forum. PFF is no more qualified than stuff from the fans - by their own admission even.

We are all smart enough to decide for ourselves what we choose to believe and what we choose to dismiss.

Good. Then we are smart enough to dismiss PFF upon reading it. I did decide for myself.

Who pre-filtered anything? I read their garbage just to see what drivel they are spouting.

I'm sorry you feel the need to "pre-filter" these posts... but we are contributing, we are posting on a message board. We are amateurs. We don't get paid for this analysis. PFF does, despite having no more - and probably less - credentials.

The bottom line is that the internet is a dangerous place. It's blurred the line from those qualified to talk about something as an expert, with analysis worth money, and those who are not. I'm sorry if you can't see which side PFF falls on that line.

If you could provide us with a list of "those qualified to talk about something as an expert....and those who are not", it would be greatly appreciated by us fools who are not smart enough to decide for ourselves.

Further, your messageboard will be an even better place when the rest of us learn to cite only the opinions of those outlets that you view as appropriate.

Yeah..... like Kiper and Clayton for example

C'mon, I know you are a big supporter of PFF, but articles like this are not rare on their site. They are just one of those sites that are trying to make a name for themselves with flawed, but unique grading systems and controversial articles like this. Unfortunately, instead of thought provoking, these articles are a joke when they put Justin Smith at #2 and Brady at #33. Smith had a good year (good enough to make him a Pro Bowl alternate), but not in the top 30 in terms of performances. Brady arguably had the best year out of any player and to discount that performance because Brady didn't stretch the field a lot devoid of a deep threat is ludicrious. Not many QBs could have done what Brady did with Deion Branch as his #1 WR (Matt Hasselbeck couldn't do it with Branch as his #3 WR).

Actually your very close. I am a big supporter of just about every site/news source. I want to hear what every organization/writer has to say and then decide for myself what to believe and what to dismiss. I may believe most of what one source says and then dismiss most of what another source says. But I want to hear all of the information.

I just like to decide for myself.

So what's your problem actually? Is anybody stopping you? He just called that site for what it is.

Who is stopping anyone from citing it? But if its garbage, we'll call it garbage. I don't understand your issue here. If someone posts a link to a site that is full of garbage every time, then posters here are going to point out that it's garbage...every time.

You happen to think it's not garbage. Good for you - but the rest of us have just as much a right to voice our opinion. You're the only one here trying to censor anyone. PFF can say whatever they want. And people who want to take a look deeper at them can also call their stuff worthless.

Nothing wrong has occurred here other than you taking offense to the latter b/c you happen to be a paying member at that site.

Again, no one here is doing otherwise. It just happens that we dismiss PFF for what I would say are extremely valid reasons, and you do not.

ya mean people actually PAY to read that garbage?

You pimp that site as if you get paid to do it, so let's not pretend that you're pure here and new to the party.

It's a garbage site that's alright if you want to use the raw data it produces for ballparking something, but is absolutely brutal for just about everything else.

My question about pro football focus is this...

So, Brady is down the list of top rated QBs because his success is a product of system, great players around him, etc.

So, if that is really the case, does the sum of the Patriots offensive players grades surpass the sum of the grades of, say, the Packers? The Patriots scored more offensive points, so one would assume their offense as a whole grades higher than any other.

Is Brady + Gronk + Welker + BJGE + Mankins, etc > Rodgers + Jennings + Driver + Stitton, etc.

If not, then the system as a whole fails, and it's not the play of the "guys around Brady" that makes him great. If this is the case, then Brady's greatness grades out as system greatness.

To attribute offensive greatness to system contradicts what PFF does, doesn't it?

That is a lie sir. The only site I am a paying member of is this one. You are now on the ignore list. Have a good day.
