RB Shane Vereen

Shane Vereen commands an explosive blend of Burst, Fluidity, Lateral Agility, and sudden Lateral Velocity.

He boasts exceptional Diagnostic Skills, Processing Speed, and Vision, working with his Line to set up Blocks.

And he commands frightening Verticity: the ability to explode out of his Breaks.

In a word: dangerous physical skills and the brains to apply them with deadly force.

I have NEVER been this excited about a Back the Patriots drafted, and I KNOW I'm not alone!! :D

I was PRAYING we'd draft him, so this is pretty much a Dream Come True!! :rocker:

He'll probably make the biggest impact this year. It's true that for RBs it's the easiest transition to the pros.

And boy does he have the tools. He's a tremendous upgrade at the position in terms of speed and quickness. It's amazing how strong he is: 31 bench presses at the combine.

And he seems a much better fit here than the Illinois punkster, Leshore. Great pick.

I'm just curious how one of my binkies will fare, Todman out of UConn. He's another player, though not quite as dynamic and powerful, who would have fit in well here.

It'll be nice to see a re-energized running attack with skilled players. The big question is Faulk. Do they keep him? He's really starting to show his wear and tear.

It is RIDICULOUS how well Kevin Faulk was still playing, early last Autumn, at the age of 34!!

I'd figured ~ and still do ~ that it's time to let Faulk pull up a chair and watch.

Better yet: join the coaching staff.

I'd rather not ask him to come back at this stage, and I'm hoping we scoop up a second Scat Back to team up with Danny WoodHead from the Free Agency pool, where there're always a few nice options.

Vereen is obviously good running the ball. But the thing I like most is his versatility. How many college running backs are asked to run a go-route and actually catch it for the touchdown ?

He's got incredible hands.
I like what he brings on pass protection plays too. He is not as big as Ridley, but he has the skills to be at least serviceable in this area of the game, and would allow our "new" OC to create some packages where the defense don't really know what's going on in the backfield.

Probably a quality back-up early in the season and a possible starter by the end of 2011 or in 2012.

I'll sign up!

After watching more of his play, Im in.

I'm on board...

HEY.....Hey......hey..... Don't try to take the lead of my fan club (bandwagon). Not cool man....not cool!

You don't have a fan club, Bro.

Again: This is about Shane Vereen.

Nobody else.

Several of us were pretty verbose about Vereen before the Draft.

You're not a leader.

I'm not a leader.

It's all about Shane Vereen, baby:
