2.) It was not that cold yesterday.
3.) I am torned - I love watching greatness - Brady's moving around in the pocket but really do not want to see so much of it during the game.

5.) How does Matt Millen still have a job??
6.) Do the Chargers have enough talent that even Marty can't screw it up??
7.) Is there an AFC team that does want to face the Chargers in the playoffs??
8.) How many times do you think that Asante's agent voted for his client to make the Pro Bowl???
9.) What was the TV analysts' take on the game during the game???
10.) When Warren and Wilfork go to the sidelines at the same time, I always think to myself - "Man, they are big guys"

8.) How many times do you think that Asante's agent voted for his client to make the Pro Bowl???

Asante is already getting his face out there for his pending free agency. For the first time since he's been here I saw him talking on one of the local sports shows.

I hope that he has a better PR person than did Deion Branch:)

Do they block out the sun?

Good Post!

I have to say that this whole 'Marty ball' thing is really being overplayed. He has a running game that would crush any defense, and a confident QB, and a TE we can't cover. A defense that will kill Brady like they always have. A defense that can handle our strictly average and very inconsistent O-Line. A stud left tackle who can handle Seymour and the best nose tackle in football.

They don't need to go all the way and win the superbowl to spoil our season, they just need to kick us out of the playoffs to ruin it for us, and Marty or no Marty, they will be a great team in the playoffs.

Really, did anybody notice how inconsistent we have looked all year? And I think our coaches have been playing some 'small ball' themselves this year, although it is with the lack of a consistent and well schemed running game, as opposed to being too conservative, which has been Marty's downfall.

The Chargers today could beat us with Marty ball, trust me. They are not going to go away anytime soon and we will need to be much more consistent of a team to beat anybody in the playoffs than we are today.

Torned isn't a word. Torn.

I wish we had drafted McNeil instead of bust Jackson.

Have you seen how inconsistent the Chargers have been all season? Not sure where you are going with that. They barely beat the Raiders at home and needed a BS call to do it and then let the Bills back in the game. This after two weeks of spotting the opposition 20+ points. They are good but they are just as inconsistent as any of the AFC contenders this year.

Do yourself a favor, look up the rookie year stats of the following #1 (or former #1) wr's:

Hines Ward
Joe Horn
Steve Smith
Derreck Mason
Deion Branch
Laverneus Coles
Javon Walker
Donald Driver
Chad Johnson

None of these guys exactly burned up the league their rookie year. In fact, some of them didn't start every game. Even more, some didn't play all 16 games. It is way too early to call Jackson a bust.

Don't bother, he's not an actual fan. Just a troll that comes in when he has something negative to say.

That left tackle is an Auburn product :D

WAR DAMN EAGLE!

The Chargers look scary (right now.) Real scary. Ladanian Tomlinson by himself is scary. But one thing about the Chargers makes me sort of happy: We've done this before. Rams, 2001. Take away LT and it crumbles. Tall order. But so was Marshall Faulk.

Oh I know what's next: Marshall Faulk is no LT. Actually it goes like this: Marshall Faulk was no Priest Holmes. Priest Holmes was no Shaun Alexander. Shaun Alexander was no Ladanian Tomlinson.

He's the greatest, dot-com.

The thing is, he's one of those keys that BB is great at taking away - in fact, very similar to the Faulk threat (can be receiver or running back; multi-touchdown threat any given game...) Okay, so he's a QB too. But hell, so is Vick, at least on paper. People do win against Vick.

No, we don't have an answer (as of game 12) for LT. But what would scare me more -- laugh if you want -- is Denver again. We lose to those guys consistently. By comparison, I think SD would go down like the Steelers/Colts of 04... "DAMN they're good... wait okay we just beat 'em. But no way we win this next one..."

Reading that, perhaps it's just the bad taste of the end of last year talking (not to mention our worst loss this year.) But all in all, it's shanny that gives us fits, not some once in a lifetime monster talent (which will be replicated within 10 years.)

As his asking price goes up, so does our draft choice compensation. Whether it's a straight UFA comp pick (in which we're probably looking at a 2008 #4) or a Franchise and Trade, which we'd get better comp but have to deal with the distractions of a Tag. It's all good :) . . . although I would love us to be able to re-sign him.

Anyone who thinks a draft choice, especially a WR, is a bust before his rookie year is even over needs to get a grip :(

First of all you forgot to mention they are playing with basically a rookie QB.

Here's Marty's post-season results:

'86 Browns (12-4) - lost AFC Championship
'95 Chiefs (13-3) -lost Divisional playoff game
'97 Chiefs (13-3) - lost Divisional playoff game
'04 Chargers (12-4) - lost Wild Card playoff game

There are other times he made the playoffs that I didn't post, these are just the ones with the better records.

Marty Schottenheimer - the greatest regular season coach ever.

1.) A win is a win.

Amen. Oftentimes that is forgotten.

2.) It was not that cold yesterday.

Didn't look that cold. Don't know how it is there today, but it was about 20 degrees here. It's coming.

3.) I am torned - I love watching greatness - Brady's moving around in the pocket but really do not want to see so much of it during the game.

I agree. It's great that he keeps escaping, but man, I get nervous everytime he has to.

4.) I really wished that I DVR'd the game. It seemed to me that TBC got good pressure on Kitna all day long. I met his dad before the game.

TBC played extremely well. He was penetrating like crazy and actually flushing Kitna into the second wave of rushers. It was great to see.

5.) How does Matt Millen still have a job??

:D :D :D :D Welcome to the Detroit Lions. 2 words: Ford Family. They don't know how to run a football team, and Millen has them wrapped around his little finger. They gave him A CONTRACT EXTENSION last year! I love hating that team.

6.) Do the Chargers have enough talent that even Marty can't screw it up??

Nope.
7.) Is there an AFC team that does want to face the Chargers in the playoffs??

I do. I want to face Phillip Rivers in the playoffs. San Diego is this year's "trendy" team. They will not make the AFCCG.

8.) How many times do you think that Asante's agent voted for his client to make the Pro Bowl???

They took the Muhammad/Grossman commercial off the air and replaced it with those two.

9.) What was the TV analysts' take on the game during the game???

That the Pats overlooked the Lions. Every play was followed with a running count of Pats' penalties.

10.) When Warren and Wilfork go to the sidelines at the same time, I always think to myself - "Man, they are big guys"

Huge guys.

6.) Do the Chargers have enough talent that even Marty can't screw it up??

* I've watched the Chargers a few times this year and have been really shocked at how they let Rivers play and he hasn't been playing Martyball and starting to run the clock out in the 3rd quarter with a 7 point lead. Whether he can resist his Martyballness in a playoff game we'll have to see. My guess is you can't teach that old dog new tricks. Unless he's been barred from dealing with the offense -:)

You guys need to go back and watch "The Fumble" game, the Browns scored about 40 points and Kosar must have thrown 50+ passes. I'm not sure where Marty got this reputation other than the end result. He has thrown plenty in the playoffs before. Maybe not in every game but certainly in some.

The knock on Schotsie is that his teams practice in pads all year so when the post-season comes around they are all beat up. That coupled with his consevative play-calling under stress usually dooms him. Whether he has continued this practice, I don't know, but that's a long time in the heat of So Cal.

I thought Millen said he would step down this year--

Is Warren still growing? The guy looks taller than Sey now, 6'8" or so.

A win is a win is a win. This wasn't the worst game we ever played and won.

Well he was a fumble away from going to O.T. (with momentum) in one AFCC game and an incredible Elway drive from another. With just a semblence of luck, he would have been to two Super Bowls.

1.) A win is a win.
Always!
2.) It was not that cold yesterday.
That's relative, you know....
3.) I am torned - I love watching greatness - Brady's moving around in the pocket but really do not want to see so much of it during the game.
I agree - but what really impresses me is your command of the King's English!
4.) I really wished that I DVR'd the game. It seemed to me that TBC got good pressure on Kitna all day long. I met his dad before the game.
Maybe TBC is finally coming of age. We shall see.
5.) How does Matt Millen still have a job??
You're not the first - and certainly won't be the last - to ask that question!
6.) Do the Chargers have enough talent that even Marty can't screw it up??
Only time will tell, but what are the bookmakers in Vegas and Acey saying?
7.) Is there an AFC team that does want to face the Chargers in the playoffs??
Yes. The Denver Broncos. They're so desperate to simply get into the playoffs, they don't care who they play!
8.) How many times do you think that Asante's agent voted for his client to make the Pro Bowl???
If he's a protege of Richard Daley, the number must approach infinity!
9.) What was the TV analysts' take on the game during the game???
That's a damn good question, one that nobody seems to have the answer to!
10.) When Warren and Wilfork go to the sidelines at the same time, I always think to myself - "Man, they are big guys"
Yes, they are, aren't they?

Nice post, Miguel...you oughta do this more often!
