Unless the stay is not granted, but if it is.. there will be games missed.. the hearing for the appeal is june 3rd... then the greedy owners will put in another appeal, after a month of hearings and so on and so on... bottom line , the owners are at fault here.. .they could opperate under last years rules get the leauge year started and let it fight out in the courts.. but with all of the legal mumbo jumbo, it looks like this could go into sept ... Jaws was on a local tv show, and feels games will be missed and will lose about 6 weeks of the regular season which is 6 too many.. this is a joke , its a shame it has come this far but after holding out hope i think now we are going to lose games, which is why Belichick drafted how he did... this year is going to be lost ... thanks to guys like Kraft, jones, and other greedy owners.. who cant face the fact they are in the wrong.. the players had the right stratgey, they needed to fight this in court, unfortunitly its going to be a long fight, and if they overrule judge nelsons decision count on missing games...

Not chosing sides right or wrong but IMO the players are the ones to blame for how this is being drawn out right now as they are the ones who took it to court. And since it has gone to court we have been delayed 2-3 months just as files are being heard and ruled on as it pertains to the lockout and not even any of the suits or cases filed yet.

Actually with the expedited appeal, I think there will be more likely to see games played. There won't be serious discussions until appeals are exhausted. No matter who loses this next appeal, there is little chance the Supreme Court will accept the case before the close for business for the summer if they take it at all. I think when this appeal is ruled, it will force both sides to go to the bargaining table.

They already saw a loss of 5 million viewers for the draft from last year. They know a delay of the season will hurt both sides. I think this will be resolved one way or another by August. If the owners lose this next appeal, there might not be a CBA but there will be football. If the owners win the appeal, the players will fracture since they already have started to with a group of midrange players trying to sue to get a seat at the table. If the lockout is upheld on appeal and both sides don't talk, the midlevel players are likely to revolt.

Right now neither side is motivated to get a deal done without letting it play out in the court. As the season approaches and the Cromarties of the league aren't getting their new contract and are left in limbo and the owners are still paying their personnel and not getting money, both sides will be motivated to go back to the table.

What really pizzes me off is that instead of negotiating they are waiting for a third party to decide their fate.. that never has a great result. Allowing someone to make decisions that you can make is stupid. Get the principles together go to some resort, lock the doors and do not come out until you get an agreement..

Right now we are missing the Rookie TC, signing of UDFA, OTA's Off Season Signings and probably most of TC.. It sux pure and simple. Never thought that they would allow this billion dollar cash cow resort to this level of idiocy.

I really miss all the stuff that usually happens in the NFL this time of year..

I disagree with this assessment. Both sides are greedy. Neither side wants to come to the table. The difference is the players want to protect a system that is clearly in their favor and the owners want to change that system so it is in their favor. If the roles were reversed, the players would be striking and the owners would be fighting for business as usual.

This is clearly a case of millionaires vs. billionaires. Even the lower level players feel the player representatives are looking out for the top tier players and not the people down the line. That is why they are trying to sue to get a seat at the table. This is all about greed on both sides.

And there are the retired players who are on the owners' side. Why?!? Because the owners are stepping up to the plate and helping them out where the NFLPA has long history of ignoring them. Now the owners may be buying their love and loyalty, but that is still far more than the NFLPA has done who have decided to treat the retired players' union as the enemy. The owners' intention may or may not be truly pure in this case, but they did see that the NFLPA doesn't really care about the players once they retire (or at least not nearly enough) and took advantage of the situation.

I forget who it was but I recall hearing a Patriot speak about getting together with his teamates soon and getting some work done. This was at the time when OTA's would normally have been kicking off.

All this while a group of former players have had to sue the NFLPA because the NFLPA were profiting on licensing deals using their names while paying the former players as little as $200 month in benefits (the former players won a $28 million judgement in 2008). And the owners are the greedy ones....

By definition, workman's comp is only available to employees who were injured on the job.

As an example, Crump needed major shoulder surgery. Prior to the strike, I'm sure the Pats insurance covered the surgery but the rehab he is going though today SHOULD be applicable under Workman's Comp. However, if the settlement sucks (# of days of rehab) he may pay out of his own pocket. I'm sure the Krafts would take care of him once this stuff is resolved.

I don't think either salary means that either side is greedy. They're just reflective of the moneys involved in the game.

Thanks for the answer. I really meant unemployment security. That was a good answer about workman's comp though.
