Patriots working out?

Ive been hearing a lot about Mark Sanchez leading workouts with Jets skill players in California and Eli is working with his receivers in Hoboken. Anybody know about what the Pats players are doing during the lockout?

Re: Patriots working out?

They are mostly tight lipped about that stuff. (Taking after their coach, I assume.)
One of the rookies let it slip that he got the number of a veteran running his own mini-camp thing. I don't know who was the vet and I forget which rookie. (Hey, I don't know them by voice yet.)
I assume every team has something like that, but NY media thinks the Jets and Giants are special.

I think Carter said he got the phone numbers and I'm pretty sure Williams said something about working out with the team too.

Re: Patriots working out?

You would think Brady would get something going, that would no surprise me at all.

Can't see Mankins doing it, maybe Welker or Wilfork, has to be someone with clout.

The Jets are (not surprisingly taking after their coach) making a huge deal out of how hard their backs and receivers are working at Jets West. [Well except for Cotchery, Ewards, Holmes, and Green who aren't working out.]

I assume the Pats are doing something somewhere and just not bragging about it.

Re: Patriots working out?

There's an article on NFL.com right now about Woodhead

Woodhead wouldn't say whether he was working out with teammates.

"We're just trying to keep each other accountable and get ready for the season and just expect there is a season," he said.

Re: Patriots working out?

I would be more than Happy to hear either Wilfork or Mayo leading the defensive practices.

Re: Patriots working out?

I know all the DB's (except Page) were working out together for a while, they were all talking about it on Twitter. They'd play "Credit Card Roulette" to see who would pay for the meals.

FYI for people; Meriweather, McCourty, Bodden, Butler, Brown, Page, and Sanders are on Twitter.

Re: Patriots working out?

I remember Mayo saying that he Brady were calling other players to make sure that everyone is staying in shape. Didn't sound like anythiing that was a large group. A little disappoiinted that they're not doing something like the Jets, Saints and other teams. I bet earlier Brady would have had everyone together. We'll see if this hurts them when they start playing.

Re: Patriots working out?

Mayo & Brady have both made allusions to working out with the team.

In fact, I think Brady said something about having to figure out which high schools to meet at. He has been in Boston and the Northeast quite a bit of late.

Re: Patriots working out?

I believe Mayo has organized workouts and weightlifting for defensive players.

The was article in maybe mid March on the subject.

Re: Patriots working out?

Belichick has taught these guys well. They definitely need to be getting together, but they definitely don't need to be letting the media know that it's going on.

The workouts also might hurt (and certainly don't help) the players in their lockout efforts. The players are saying that the lockout is the worst thing ever because they don't get to work out/play football/learn the offense, and then the Judges and their clerks turn on ESPN and Sanchez is running Jets West with the whole team working out/playing football/learning the offense.

Tom had a strenuous workout last wekend at 2 fashion events and balls in NYC.

Re: Patriots working out?

Just wondering...Do the vets have the playbooks or are they turned in at the end of the season.....

I'm sure someone has made copies of their favorite plays ( even tho it's probably a no-no by the team) ..

Anyone have some insight into this?

They don't get to work out properly being team led they have to pay to have help and for drinks and food unlike if they were at training camps so it costs them. They are only learning to offence as of last year without updates to it. The O and D are also working out separately which is not as good for them.

@RobGronkowski lmao. Whatever buddy. When u comin back down this way? Next team workouts n Miami

Darius Butler via twitter

I'm assuming he's serious.

Well, hopefully he's not talking about doing 16oz curls and 40oz lifts at the local strip club.

there is no rule aganst the players working out they just can't do it with the coaches or in the facilities lets hope they are doing it
