The above possibility occurred to me this evening.

Do you agree or disagree?

1. Brady

2. Sanchez
3. Fitzpatrick
4. Henne

5. Hoyer
6. Mallett

I'm only thinking that way because Mallett hasn't proven anything in the NFL. He could logically be number 2 if anything bad were to happen to Brady given his potential skill set.

3 out of 4 is impossible, Mallett cannot be included the rankings yet.

1. TFB
2. Sanchez
3. Fitzpatrick
4. Hoyer
5. Henne

Yes, Hoyer is better than Henne. Even though we've only seen Hoyer play in a limited time he's impressed me and Henne just sucks.

Edit: Ok, who are the two super homers?

Fitzpatrick might be the 2nd best QB in afc east. He was very solid imo and the Bills obviously feel confident in him for this year. Sanchez is surrounded by talent in every position and he still struggles.

i'd put brady 1

sanchez has a lead over fitz due to his semi clutchness in the playoffs

fitz is 3rd

and it's damn hard for me to rank mallet below henne lol

i love mallet!

Umm...if Fitzpatrick was on the Jets team. Had Edwards,Keller,Holmes,LT,Greene and that offensive line + defense you don't think he couldn't lead them into the playoffs? Maybe even upset us? He almost did it in week 3 if not for Brady being on fire.

Even though his last game against us was a stinker he was no worse than Sanchez was in that 45-3 beatdown and he has considerably less talent to work with. His first game he went 20/28 250 2td 2 int and overall had a better year statistically than Sanchez. Him and Steve Johnson were the only bright spots on that Bills team last year.

Until proven otherwise, after Brady it's Sanchez, Fitzy, Henne. We don't know how good Hoyer really is, or Mallett for that matter.

alot of ifs

i was basing my ranks on reality

Although I think Sanchez is overrated, it is impossible to argue either Hoyer or Mallet are better than him. Fitzpatrick, on the other hand, might actually be the second best QB in the division.

What is the reality?

The Jets carry Sanchez...they don't win because of him. Is it Fitzpatrick's fault that he can't prove his semi-clutchness by playing on a ****ty team that hasn't been in the playoffs like in a decade?

There are alot of young QB's i consider better than Sanchez at this point.
Bradford,Ryan,Stafford(from the little that we've seen),Freeman.

Sanchez is a game manager. He beat us but that's the same defense that struggled with Matt Flynn. He just isn't very accurate or consistent. In the Colts game he was downright atrocious.

He will be entering his 3rd season and he needs to make some big strides next year for me to change my opinion of him.

Set aside Sanchez's regular season and hes 6-2 in the playoffs with a 9-3 TD/INT ratio, 94 QB rating and a 60% passer. Going up against good teams, that deserves some respect.

Being a game manager in the playoffs is not a bad thing. Just make plays when you have to and for the most part, he has done just that.

ausbacker nailed it. There is a very large gap between Brady and Sanchez, but I'd put Sanchez ahead of everyone else in the division as well. His regular season stats aren't good, but he has played pretty well in the playoffs his first two years...gotta give him credit for that. That's a heck of a lot more than any other QB in the division not named Brady has done. You can't put Mallett in the mix, really, because he hasn't even signed a pro contract yet, never mind faced any NFL competition.

What was Peyton Manning's playoff record and passer rating before he started to find some success?

Any top 5 pick QB that has fines for the way they act on the field and needs the offense to be simplified has quite a way to go imo.

Jets are at their best when they take the game out of Sanchez's hands and that's been the key for their success imo. Suffocating D,run the ball, control the clock.

In terms of his playoff career he does deserve some respect for his games vs us and the Steelers. He played mistake free and made plays but can he continue to build on that and emerge as a top level passer? I have my doubts but I'm certain Jets fans will like to believe so.

If I had to pick another QB to play for the Pats who isn't already on the roster, I would take Fitz!

If he had talent surrounding him, the team could do very well!

You mean inside the AFC East? I'd probably take Sanchez in terms of the future...his potential is greater

Manning is a poor example as we can debate was success is. As an example, individually he was very average in 2006, but they went 4-0, and won the Sb. Overall, I would rate Sanchez's QB play in the playoffs comparable to Manning's in their 1st 8 games with Manning having more highs but also having some downright awful games. With that said, there is no debate as to who the better QB is and who has had more success as Manning has won more games and SBs.

Sure but it's the production that counts. If he only knows 10 plays and is a 60% passer and has a Qb rating of 94 and he wins, who cares?

There are very few teams without elite QBs would be hard-pressed to win any other way. Sanchez is no different than the other 7 or 8 other playoff teams that do not have elite QBs.

The discussion isn't about if he can emerge or be a top-level passer. I have my doubts too. My point is that he is better than Fitzy because he has been solid vs good competition in the playoffs. It certainly helps matters that hes had a better defense and running game to ease the burden of carrying the team on his shoulders.

Yeah in the AFC East!

And his potential might be higher, but he still has to rely on his defence!

Well...right now i think Fitz is better..if he had been the Jets QB last year i don't think there would've been any drop off of performance from the QB position.
