Report: Patriots Could Target Stanford Quarterback Andrew Luck in 2012 NFL Draft - New England Patriots - NESN.com
It makes no sense to mortgage your entire future for 1 guy and doesn't fit the mould of someone who has an economics major and a proven record of conducting business. That story just doesn't plain doesn't make sense. They start off by saying how Belichick is renowned for stockpiling picks year after year and NOT spending them on high selections, and that they just took the highest-drafted QB of Belichick's tenure -- a guy with franchise potential, and that Brady is signed through 2014. And from that, they conclude that the Patriots may be planning to spend their entire draft to trade up for a QB next year?
That's pretty much "it walks like a duck, it talks like a duck, it must be asparagus."
RYAN MALLET is that guy...
sign a 5 yr contract to ride bench... DRUG CLAUSES IN IT.
HOYER WILL GET US A 2ND ROUNDER THIS YEAR. I PROMISE IT.
I'd find it ridiculously hilarious if the Panthers end up with the number 1 pick in the 2012 draft. There's a very good chance they will.Well, the Luck sweepstakes is now on in earnest. All it takes to win: ensure you lose more games than any other NFL team in 2011. Then you get to select the best QB prospect in the last 20 years or get paid a king's ransom for the privilege of switching places. Fun!

Given what we saw transpired this year for a receiver Luck's price for the number 1 pick would be an organizational killer. You get the number 1 pick you take him. It seems that simple at the moment.Unless the Panthers can give Newton some weapons on offence I like their chances of going back to back in 2012.
In terms of moving up to draft Luck in 2012, it would be almost impossible. Unless the Pats and Saints completely blow their 2011 seasons, both teams will likely be picking in the 20's if not 30's. So they would need to use both of these picks, plus their two seconds, and still need to trade at least 1, if not 2 more 1st round picks. And thats before we take into account the increased value of the #1 pick with a rookie salary cap and the increased value because its Andrew Luck going #1 overall. I think if BB really wanted to go after Luck he would have traded a lot more picks foreward, and with worse teams that are more likely to have high picks. This is just a classic case of the media over-analyzing moves when its completely unnecessary.
Luck will be the number 1 pick next year. It would take something rather amazing to beat him out of that spot especially given the bullshît Cam Newton sold the Panthers to go number 1.Everyone is assuming Luck will have a super year, but what if his last year is dreadful?
That would increase the chances of the Pats or Colts going after him
