With a Couple Of Minor re-signings

I would like us to try to re-sign Warren, Ojinnaka, and White. These are minor re-signings. Their signing bonuses are well worth the insurance they provide.

Yes, we should also focus on players not now on our team, at OLB, at Wr and perhaps even at RB. But, first we need to look to our own free agents, especially in a year with a relatively short preparation time (already shortened).

What would you see as their chances of making the team? And if they are low, is it a good business decision for the guys to sign?

The answer to the latter question could be "Yes" if the signing bonus is competitive and they're sure they'll get a vet minimum job somewhere. Even so, if they have wives and kids, they might like to find out where they're spending the year as early in the summer as possible. (Unless, like Faulk and numerous others, they just leave their families in a city different from that they play in.)

Seems to me the Pats have already evaluated Stroud ahead of GWarren. Also think that Carter was a replacement for White since he can fill out the depth chart at the OLB position instead of ILB. If the Pats thought Ojinnaka would be able to take the swing tackle role, I can't believe the Pats wouldn't have tendered him as a RFA (by 2010 rules since he doesn't have 6 years yet for UFA). By non-tendering him, I think they've moved on.

OLB definitely. Maybe even multiple there. Not sure I see the use in WR or RB since they have experienced players that don't need camp and youngsters that will need all the reps they can get when practices start. If you are going to add a WR or RB beyond just camp bodies, I would think someone (Branch or BJGE) would need to go.

I don't see any point in picking up another veteran receiver. The organization seems pretty confident in the current group. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing some UDFAs eventually come in and compete for PS spots. Theres a couple guys that could easily beat out Farnham (who sucks) and Jenkins (a bit old).

Why do you believe this? Is it beacuse we didn't draft a fourth (six if Jenkins and Farnam are included) developmental wide receiver?

Who do you see as the wideouts that opponents will fear and gameplan for?

Yes, I have also ahve confidence that we might see great things from some combination of Tate, Edelman and Price. We two older starters who are injured from time to time. We have 3 wannabees. I would be SHOCKED if we do not bring at least a couple of veterans into camp to push the kids, and as insurance against injuries to Branch. Edelman is an able backup for Welker.

If G Warren has a poor chance of making the team, then the need that we have promoted at DE is greatly overrated.

I don't agree with the bolded statement. Watching him not starting for several games, watching Wilfork being forced to the outside so that Warren could be put inside where he'd be covered by Mayo and Spikes, and watching the Patriots make sure to sign another aging, declining DE (Stroud) even prior to full free agency would seem (to me) to indicate that BB doesn't agree with it, either. That being the case, his not making the team just says that he's not good enough to beat out other declining players and young mediocrities.

I don't see him making the roster because the Stroud signing tells me that BB doesn't feel comfortable relying on G Warren or he prefers Stroud....either way it's bad news for G Warren.
