This kid is 6'4", 230 lbs.
Ran a 4.38 40 yard dash!

Here is a link to some video of the guy

YouTube - Baldwin Wallace Football "Keith Darbut"

Obviously will need to add some weight, but has explosion and should be able to maintain that while adding bulk.
Who needs these 1st rounders with guys like this.

If anybody really wanted him, he would have been picked late, perhaps over a certain OLB from Central Arkansas.

I was thinking more of an UDFA. The draft is over and I was just looking at potential guys who were not picked. I was also being kinda tongue and cheek since most people on this board were going crazy that an OLB was not drafted. ;)

An OLB was drafted, you know.....the guy that came from THE University of Central Arkansas.

I agree if any UDFAs have chance to make a team (or practice squad) it is with the Pats - best players play. I'd love to see them bring in:

Keith Darbut, Baldwin Wallace Defensive End
Ugo Chinasa, Oklahoma State Defensive End
Marc Schiechl, Colorado Mines Defensive End
Blaine Sumner, Colorado Mines Defensive Tackle
:bricks:

The Pats drafted Markell Carter you know.
And they passed on Greg Romeus AS DID 32 other NFL teams at least 6x over.
So they were not alone in their assessment.
I have to think that his medicals are horrific on Romeus, even worse than Bowers.

As for your UDFA binky, it's gonna be a harder year than usual for UDFAs to catch on because of the labor situation in the NFL.

My god it is a tough room in here right now. I KNOW that the Patriots drafted an OLB. What I didn't realize is that we couldn't talk about any players that went undrafted that I, or anyone for that matter, liked because we did take one in the 6th round.
I had a guy that I liked that had potential on the practice squad that maybe could develop. He has the measurables and from the film has some upside.
I am really sorry that I shared this with the rest of you. Jeez.

My thought is that if they were going to target that type of OLB, it would probably have made more sense to go after Dontay Moch, who at least has a big school track record. I doubt a 230lb OLB would be on BB's radar screen. The problem with those types of OLB's which that highlight won't show, is the running play where they get creamed by a LT.

I'm all for getting interesting players in on a flyer, however I just don't think BB see's the pass rush need in the same way the fan base does.

But you're right, he looked good in that video (especially as he can double as a deep threat receiver, another need) :D

We finally got Bin Laden after almost ten years, maybe someday we will get a pass-rushing OLB or 2....... OMG, I'm talking crazy now!

No you specifically said that "an OLB was not drafted by the Patriots." That's factually untrue. I have no opinion on the UDFA guy you're talking about except that he sounds about 20-30 lbs light for a Pats outside linebacker. Feel free to share info, just don't get offended when you get corrected for miss-stating the facts.

I am with you on this kid. More production than the dude we Drafted but BB had left by then. An assistant ST coach picked the last few winners. It's called...givin up.

yep, we're always on the lookout for those 230 lb backers. Amazing he didn't make the board.

You're working awfully hard to find something to complain about, especially considering that all you know about these two are their 40 times and a 5 minute video of each.

Maybe it just because I haven't really tried sarcasm on the board and I didn't make my sarcasm come through clearly, but my little blue headed guy  at the end of the sentence was to mock the people who said we didn't draft one. My bad I guess.

A 230 pound white guy running a 4.38 ? Is this guy on roids?

Because, of course, no white men can be fast unless he cheats . . .

Seriously, people, can't we just move past the race thing? This is the third or fourth thread today where people have attached labels to black or white players and their physical or mental abilities--or both.

I have white friends who can do double back flips, standing corkscrews, and one-handed handstand balances on top of a railing; pretty athletic. I have black friends who have published books and teach graduate courses; pretty intelligent. Let's move forward, shall we?

lol it's meant as a joke. Call me up when you're buddies run a 4.38 40 at 230 pounds though, the black guys included. This guy must be one hell of an athlete.

EDIT:Looked up his numbers: He also recorded a 1,42 10 yard split, 10-foot-6 broad jump and 38-inch vertical, benching 225 pounds 26 times at a pro day.

I wonder if this guy had been at the combine, had he been drafted based on those numbers alone? Those are sick..

Skeptical of just numbers. If they had a track event for 230 pound athletes he'd be great. But it looked like he was playing highschoolers in that video. Sometimes it seemed like the QB wanted to be sacked.

He's worth an invite to camp. He made my list of the top 100 UDFA.

Ouch!! Probably about as much time as our staff looked at the last two or three guys don't ya think?

Perhaps a dart board or deck of cards was the finally decision maker.

I can't complain about the first few picks, They were all nice and safe.....
You don't get my point do you?
