DO THEY EVEN FACTOR IN NEXT YEAR DRAFT PICKS WE HAVE ACCUMULATED?

We got a C SOMETHING.

BS. Mel Kiper u r brutal and I hate you and 90% of ESPN evals

This years draft grade will be given out in February. Stay tuned. The rest of them are just noise.

well it prob is a c in there eyes.. and in most people eyes, but this draft was a lockout draft... they felt there are not going to get much production with this years class.. so that is why they will go heavy on FA this year... i hope

Kiper grades based on how closely a team followed his take on their needs and choices. In other words he's useless.

I'd be interested to see how many people feel this way when he gives a good grade to something the Patriots do....

I'd give it a B+ if not an A, and the only reason to downgrade it at all is not really addressing OLB. I don't think they looked at it believing they won't get production out of this class in fact just the opposite, they actually seriously addressed need in that the top players they chose all have a real chance of getting alot of playing time their first 2 years and five f six could be starting with both Ridley and Vereen seeing regular time in rotation, and Solder, Cannon, and I-Dowling starting at OT, OG, and DB. Mallett is a great value pick and they added a 1st and 2nd and will again be able to do what they want in the next Draft. That's excellent use of their picks and this draft and I''m happy with it. All they really need to address in free agency is WR and an OLB/DE and they will be set for next year. Franchise Mankins and re-sign Light to play OT one more year and then move inside for 2.

That is generally my impression: He grades on what HE thought they should do.

This draft is an A- for the Pats. Would have been better had they not essentially wasted the last two picks. A redshirt pick (Romeus) would have been great.

By comparison, CNNSI gave the only two A+ scores, to the Patriots and Lions... ;)

It's ESPN, who cares anyways? Mel Kiper still hasn't figured out that all teams don't share the same draft board.

I was hoping for that too.:(

I think many of the draftnik fans suffer from the same problem Kiper does, if their team doesn't draft their binkies or address needs as they see them then the team has failed. Thank god this team pays no attention at all to those howls of protest.

I like what they did but an A- is a real stretch.

(Except for those graders who give the Pats draft a good grade and the Jets draft a poor grade . . . those are completely legitimate and appropriate :D)

I never feel good when Mel Kiper Jr. and his hair are praising us. Especially the day after the draft, before a single prospect has hit the field.

I like Kiper, and the thing is, he does HAVE to put out grades and it has to be based on SOMETHING. He couldn't be more up-the-***** of the Patriots, almost always qualifying even mildly critical comments with something like, "They're one of the better drafting teams in the NFL so I could be wrong." But the guy has a job to do and he does it mostly quite well.

Almost every year he praises the Patriots. This year it's less so. And, in any case, it doesn't matter.

I agree. I think this is why we saw more developmental picks. If you think someone is good now vs. someone who is ok now but might be great with work, with a lockout go with the person with more long term upside. Without camps etc… I doubt any rookies will be much help this year.

I agree this was a draft with the backdrop of a labor problem, consider teams like Carolina who will expect Cam Newton to step in with no rookie camp, no OTA's and probably an abbreviated TC... lets see how that works out.

Most of our picks, are developmental.. and this team is being rebuilt on the fly.

Grades aren't worth shyt, give out grades in February of 2012 or Feb 2013.

most of the analysts have given the patriots a B. Rick Gosselin gave us an A. I don't even watch ESPN's coverage of the draft anymore, because we have to listen Mel Kiper, a guy who probably hasn't played a single snap of football in his life.
