Harrison, Samuel, Scott absences being felt - but how much?

We need to spend some money in the secondary in the off season. We can't rely on 30+ year-olds to stay healthy, and two of your three names are just that.

And the third will be gone if, once again, we don't start spending some money in the secondary.

Harrison and Wilson. Samuel and Scott are back.

Harrison should be a sizeable upgrade over Sanders in every area, run defense, pass defense and knowledge of the defense. He may be old and slow but he'll help a lot.

I'm not sure when Wilson is coming back and I doubt he'd be a big upgrade over Hawkins but having them both for Nickel and Dime packages should help a good amount.

Would it do us any good to just get rid of Geno and stick with Hawkins? Geno seems to be a bit more injury prone these last two years and Hawkins has filled in mighty nicely...

It's a revolving door. They've had a hell of an injury bug at that position.

They should be able to upgrade in the draft, but it's not sais enough what excellent veteran contributions they've received from Chad Scott and Hawkins.

Pretty much allowed them to hold the fort without Harrison. Artrell did a great job last year, but the 2 together have been solid.

Chad Scott was schooled yesterday. He had a horrendous game. Samuel's game was only better because of the interception. It was his lack of coverage on Furrey that allowed Furrey to catch the 1st TD.

At least they kept Roy Williams quiet...at the expense of Furrey going off, but oh well.

Regards,
Chris

As I said, they're in and out with injuries.

Obviously, If he missed a big game like Chicago, we can assume he has something nagging, but is relatively healthy compared to others.

Hobbs has been limited in his play by injuries also.

Nevertheless, Scott's ability to play safety and cover big receivers has been invaluable on this team especially without Harrison.

it seems like an eternity since Hobbs had his wrist placed in a cast, eliminating his ability to catch an INT, and sometimes to even tackle. Shouldn't the cast come off in about 6-8 weeks?

How long has it actually been?

Scott was, indeed, very bad yesterday, but the guy did have a couple good games before he wound up on the injury report. If getting Wilson and Harrison back can get him a week or so's rest, I think he can contribute well as a versatile nickel/dimer.

Harrison is the only x factor, he will improve run defense, communication and with any luck be able to blitz every now and then. Our entire pressure packages are currently built off the front seven, the odd Safety blitz every now and then keeps the other side off balance.

Wilson and Hawkins are inter changeable but having Geno back allow Scott and Hawkins to get a little rest. Both of them appear to be banged up. Depending on the match-up I would consider using Brown as the slot DB, he has really improved and against a pssing team may even be better than Scott.

Scott SUCKED yesterday. I just want Wilson back at least. Harrison back would be fantastic.
