The guy was repeatedly suspended and eventually expelled from South Carolina. He has failed multiple drug tests. This guy is a powder keg that could potentially explode all over the Jets.

I think this guy to succeed at the NFL needs a disciplinarian who is going to keep his nose clean. I think Ryan's "let's have fun style" might enable his bad behavior.

I bet there are several picks that have the same history as Ellis. Some of these guys are just goons.

I head you. I don't know about Taylor getting in trouble again at Baylor, but he had two different incidents at PSU. One that was pretty vile where he viciously rammed a kids head repeatedly into a stone counter, then kicked him hard in the head when the kid dropped to the ground. The kid was all of 5'8", a regular student, and hanging out with friends in his off-campus apartment. Taylor was going after someone else and chose the wrong apartment to break into and do his damage. He was then thrown out of his school later for getting involved in a melee at a fraternity party at the student union. A football player said that his cell phone had been stolen, so several players there including Taylor went bonkers.

Ellis is a massive mountain of athletic talent with every possible red flag draped over him:

- In the coach's doghouse at South Carolina for being overweight and out of shape

- Suspended at South Carolina for drug violations (and reportedly academic issues)

- Continuing violations led to him being kicked off the South Carolina team

- Transferred to Hampton

- Arrested for assault

- Suspended at Hampton

The Jets knew what they were getting into but presumably considered it worth the risk at that stage of the draft.
