It's people on this forum that each and every year make fun, ridicule and bash mock drafts....all the while knowing that Belichick will pick the weirdest players and ones you never heard of...yet every single friging year some posters get blasted because they make a mock with no flashy or sexy players and are beaten down because some guy behind a keyboard thinks that mock is not a 'good fit' ....Belichick picks a good portion of guys that appear to be 'poor fits' every draft, yet no one ever 'gets it' in here.

..got news for some of you,you don't know sh!t anymore than the other in here.

...there will be 85% of players nearly every draft that the Pats take that you view as horrible and god forbid if a poster had picked all of our ACTUAL draft picks exactly right he would have been put into a coffin BEFORE the draft started and called a moron.

Next year and years after, think about this.... bad fit or good fit players means SQUAT,studying stats means Squat to whom the Pats actually take

Belichick has different ideas by far compared to virtually every member of Pats nation so no one will ever get more that 2 or maybe 3 picks right in any given year

....when it comes to the draft you are in the dark like everyone else..give people respect when they do their mock, even if it looks crazy bad, because you know what?...you will be as wrong as he/ she is.

That's it...got that off my chest

Hey, I did get Vereen correct....I do know some sh!t :D

Too many mock drafters give teams players based on need. This doesn't fly in NE.

You are correct,my friend

No one in here gets it through their head that there will be at least 3 or 4 WTF players in NE EVERY year.

I actually like mock drafts that don't have well known players and ones that are unique and wild
....and you know what?..I bet their mock gets more hits than the stat sheet knowitalls that roam the corridors of pats fans.com studying who fits in NE and who doesn't and ends up with egg on their faces by the end of the draft.

My ambivalence toward mock drafts stems from exactly this. It's probably not going to be accurate and who am I to sit there and say who is a good fit or will succeed? No one knows that for sure. Maybe there's something I don't get about mock drafts and why people, especially Pats fans, do them.

Masochism? :D

If I thought I could get a mock draft 83.33333% right, I'd go and play the Mega Millions.

Judging by what people on this board says last year this time, and looking back at last year, I think BB might have one of his best drafts ever, watch couple regular season games later everyone in the NFL is dropping their jaws and starts to realize how stupid they are compare to BB

I wonder how many on here were pissed we didn't get this guy a few yers ago........

Height: 6-4, Weight: 260, Draft Grade: 93

Strengths: Terrific natural athlete who is very strong for his size…he should continue to add to his frame and has the ability to be an every down player…14 sacks as a senior against top notch competition, including 3 against Jake Long…explosive off the line of scrimmage…already has a variety of pass rush moves…a “natural” pass rusher…he is willing to support against the run…hard working player who keeps himself in top notch shape…

Weaknesses: Was inconsistent at times, disappearing in some games…while he has great strength for his size, he does not have the ideal frame for an NFL DE…may be best suited as a pass rusher in the ¾ defense, but does not have pass coverage skills as this time…played with a number of very talented defenders at Ohio State that helped keep the focus off him...

Overall: one of the top pass rushers in the 2008 NFL Draft and showed the ability to dominate at times at Ohio State. was not consistent, but his upside is tremendous and he is capable of being a factor rushing the QB right now. He may be asked to transition to a 3-4 rush OLB, a position at which he should succeed, if matched with the right defense and not asked to do too much too soon.

that's our boy vern.

exactly, thats why the jets failed because they belive in this kind of stuff, and look at what we got, when we did believe in those crap, it was our 2006 draft, they all went bust pretty hard

i think we need to look at the big picture we say the pats dont Draft for need but IMO the pats Drafted more for need this year then any outher year in the BB era... Matt Light is a FA so they Drafted a LT Woodhead is the only RB under contract so they Drafted two RB's 90% of the teams in the NFL have 3 QB's the pats had only 2 on the roster so they Drafted one CB's Arrington is a FA Wilhite is just bad Leigh Bodden maynot come back at 100% and he will be 30 and Darius Butler took a step back last year so they Drafted a CB

the lockout and not being able to sigh any FA's had a lot to do with everyones Draft this year... the pats filled out there roster, like them or not but the pats have a lot of DE's and OLB's on the roster and there where 14-2

Yeah, the jets and baltimore are really scared of the patriots. You may want to stop being arrogant. BB is not the only one who knows football in this league. I bet you thought the packers were dumb for trading up to get clay matthews. He made the biggest play in the superbowl. I hope u sleep well in your 'i love BB briefs.

Pretty much sums it up.. in the last two years have revamped TE, Punter, RB's, a Back up QB and CB's... continue to beef up the line.

It seems that too many youngsters on the D side could have some negative consequences, right now we have a bunch of maybe's and promising guys..

I agree, when has anyone predicted BBs draft?

I think a big difference this year is that we haven't had FA yet! This might be where BB sees the pash rush coming from (I don't know who before anyone asks).

I like the picks so far, and when Mayock said last night that Mallett could fall to a team that didnt need one, all I could think was that BB would pick him! BB isn't scared to admit a mistake and clearly sees Mallett as a talent far higher than a 3rd round!

Do we know everything that BB does, No we don't.But we do know that the Pats have gotten spanked in their last two playoff games.

We do know that they can't rush the QB to save their lives.

We do know that its been 10 years since the last SB.

We do know that a bar has been set and the Pats have under performed.

We do know that last years 14-2 record was nothing more than fools gold.

We do know that other teams have won the SB since 2004.

We do know that just because a player doesn't fit perfectly in the system does not mean that they can't play..aka Clay Mathews anyone?

Please stop and recognize that BB and the team has made some good picks and have really messed up others. Blind allegiance is a waste of time and not how the Patriots do things.

.

Wow I seem to have slept through a few years.

Is it February 2015 already, or did you mean it is February 2018 (lost SB)?

The paper pusher who watches football 3 hours a week and logs onto a message board for a dozen hours a week (me) knows less than the hoodie who thinks about football 20 hours a day???

That's preposterous!

Matthews also made a lot of crappy plays. He was washed out repeatedly at the edge.

NFL Videos: Mendenhall 8-yard rush TD

Watch Matthews on this play getting tossed like a rag doll by a TE.

NFL Videos: Mendenhall nails camera man

And this is particularly bad by Matthews:

NFL Videos: RB Mendenhall, 15-yd, run

You'll have to explain to me why the Steelers ever went away from this.

Well John Clayton puts the Past as the "Biggest Loser" in the draft for not getting a pass rusher. The Pats had the best offense in the NFL last year and the absolute worst third down defense. What helps your third down defese? A PASS RUSH!!

Everybody LOVED last years draft, sure they were a little suprised by the McCourtey pick, but once Gronkowski and Cunningham and Spikes came around, everyone was saying that is was the best draft in years and were hoping that the one and done drafts of 2007, 2008 were behind them. Well they are back! You honestly think that a couple of RB is going to change the fact that Dirty Sanchez can sit back in the pocket all day and wait for one of his WR to get free?

I can see the Solder pick, the first round is where you get your left tackle, but the rest of them are GARBAGE! BB is like a poker player who after a bad beat (ie. the failed drafting of a CB Whilite, Wheatley, Butler..) keeps throuwing money inot the pot with a bad hand trying to re-coop his losses, instead of waiting to play the right cards.

Here's the truth about BB drafts:

2010: We all agree a great draft.

2009: Chung (34) Jury is still out, Brace (40) Bust, Butler (41) Bust, Vollmer (58) great pick, Tate (83) great pick, McKenzie (93) see Crable. Bussey (170) gone, Ingraham (198) gone, can't even draft a reliable long snapper? I will give him great pick in Pryor and Endleman.

2008: Mayo (10) great pick, Wheately (62) absolute bust, Crable (78) even worst bust than Wheatley, O'Connell (92) trader and beat out by an UDFA, WHilite (129) servicable 5th CB at best, and then traded up to get Slater (153) as a returner, however he can't catch and he fumbles.

2007: Merriweahter (24) already on his way out of town, picks 127-249 NONE of them made the team, 8 draft picks, none of them made it out of training camp!

2006: Do I have to go here? Maroney, Chad jackosn, Dave Thomas, Garret Mills, the only two that have done anything (with the Pats) are Gostowski and Le Kevin "widowmaker" Smith.
