What's up with that? Have the Patriots realized they made a hash this year and are giving up?

Last year they traded down twice hoping that McCourty would stay on the board; they gambled and it worked. It did not work this year and with this trade BB is basically giving up on the draft this year. The Patriots had a chance to make this a historic draft and they got too cute with the trade downs and lack of trade ups and missed most of the guys they wanted.

When in doubt, and in need of a future pick, call Al Davis.

This draft is known to be one of the worst drafts in the past 10 years. I'm happy the Pats traded out of it

Agreed. Got a solid OT of the Future, the ever popular 2nd round CB, two replacement RB's for Morris and Taylor and a future bargaining chip in Mallet.

I like that they are going to give the young Defense a chance to develop.

There is also FA to come as well.

Next year will be the year of the pass rusher... you watch!

god bless that man, may he live one thousand years.

You mean in the draft? Be prepared to be upset. BB has never drafted a 3-4 OLB in the first round. He has however signed his TWO largest FA deals with 3-4 OLB.

The failure rates of teams looking for 3-4 OLB's in the top 50 picks is gigantic over the past 5 years - take a look. BB will buy one, but he won't play Russian Roulette for one.

BB is three for five, so he is batting .600 in getting OLBs in FA.

I do not see many great DE to OLB conversion types in next years draft.

BB however has singlehandedly given the JETS a monster first two days by ignoring our front seven and letting Wilkerson and Ellis fall into the JETS hands.

BB has the 25th ranked defense and all he has added is Dowling, a guy who has never made it through a college season uninjured, let alone a long pro season.

What was BB thinking?

That he can't draft every player the Jets want just to keep them out of the Jets' hands? LOL.

That Wilkerson doesn't have a fast motor, and Elis will make Gholsten look like a god...?

It's so heart warming to know this site has a totally superior judge of talent compared to BB.

Please post the list of players that belichick wanted but didn't get.

Very disturbing that they added those two players. That's a lot of heavy machinery there. I would of been happy with either one and they end up getting both.

Amen to that my brother.

If Dowling is moved to FS, then he will need a red shirt year to learn the calls and adjustments.

So in summary, the Jets added about 650 pounds of upfront muscle to their front seven of a defense ranked 4th in the NFL, and we added bumpkus to a defense ranked 25th. And oh by the way, the reason the jets got their two players, was because BB got cute and traded for 2012 picks, instead of taking those players, and those 2012 picks do us no good in 2011.

Am I missing something here?

I think the jets are getting rid of Shaun Ellis, whom i would love to add to our line.

The Giants extended an original round free agent tender on Mathias Kiwanuka. The compensation for New York would be a second rounder. Would you surrender Oakland's (or your own) second round pick next year to acquire him this off-season?

Yes, he comes with a very high risk with his season ending neck injury. However, there won't be many players available in free agency who could fit in a 3-4 alignment and you could load Kiwanuka's new contract with stipulations to protect yourself if he got seriously injured, again.

The only thing that bothers me here is that Oakland is actually showing signs of life.

Unlikely that they end up like Carolina and give us the 33rd pick, but hopefuly Oakland goes back to it's losing ways and hooks us up big next year.

OLB of the future some UFA guy
