Breaking Down the #33 Trade Scenarios

Ok guys.. we have had time to soak in last night and regardless of how you feel.. let's focus on #33 and possible trade partners.


Teams of Need for QB
#34 -- Buffalo
#35 -- Bengals
#38 -- Cardinals
#45 -- San Fran
#41/49 -- Redskins
#48 -- Raiders
#57 -- Seahawks


I would say Andy Dalton is the key here.. because he has been rumored to the Bills and Def for Bengals.

Sure you have Mallet and Kapernick but Dalton is the one Teams want.. I could see us really getting quite a haul.

2 Scenarios could happen we trade down to Cardinals etc and pick up 2012 high round pick or we could trade to Washington and take both of there 2011 second round picks.. things to think about!

Honestly, I think we should hope for more than the value chart. Maybe a pick in the 40s and next year's second.

I love the trade but think you have to give up#92 also to make the numbers work.

If Chargers love Bowers, we could do 2012 1st and #61. This would mirror value gotten for #28. BB would. have flexibility to move up and target a player if needed using either 2nd or 3rd round picks.

I think Washington is best chance for get a windfall if they are in love with a QB and hopefully they will over pay to beat out other QB needy teams.:rocker:

Yes #28 sets the bar but to get 2 picks it would likely have to be a GOOD team planning on picking low in the 1st next year and a low 2nd this year.....not many teams in that area need QBs. If they want to trade up for another player it would work but I dont see getting a first back with this pick. More likely a pick in the 40s and next years 2nd.

Arizona - John Skelton or Max Hall? Sign Marc Bulger? Or, trade for Kyle Orton, Kevin Kolb or Carson Palmer?

San Francisco - Likely, will re-sign Alex Smith.
Urgency: High

Miami - Chad Henne?
Urgency: Medium

Washington - Donovan McNabb is probably going to be released...

Oakland - Jason Campbell?
Urgency: Low

Seattle - Charlie Whitehurst? (see Arizona)
Urgency: High


It seems to me that Cincinnati, Arizona, Washington and Seattle are the most worst off.

Ryan Mallett, Andy Dalton and Colin Kaepernick are the best quarterbacks available or worth selecting in the second round. I've read that both Buffalo and Cincinnati like Dalton. While Seattle likes Dalton and could be open to Mallett. And Oakland likes Kaepernick.

Buffalo selects ahead of Cincinnati and Arizona, and Washington selects ahead of San Francisco, Oakland and Seattle. So, Seattle's in a bind. They should probably acquire a quarterback via a trade instead.

Washington owns two second round picks so they're in the best position of these teams to trade up.

The Pats could decide to move down just a slot and pick up an extra 4th round pick. Or if they go down lower, let's say with Washington or Oakland, they could possibly extract that 2nd this year plus a 1st next year combo.

I'd prefer the trade be with the Redskins. They are run badly each year and are more likely to be picking in the top 10 in 2012. Although Al Davis is still crazy, he has amassed enough talent that I see the Raiders hovering around the .500 mark no matter who he hires as the next head coach. Cutting J. Russell loose was the classic example of addition by subtraction.

You're shooting a bit high.

1 ~ #33 is worth considerably less than #28.
2 ~ #48 is worth considerably MORE than #56.
3 ~ Most importantly, the Raiders 2012 1st is FAR more valuable than the Saints'.

The Raiders ~ new Head Coach, crappy QB ~ deserve a second chance to deliver us a Top 5 Pick, don't you think??

I think I'd prefer an early to mid 2nd this year plus a 2nd next year from a mediocre to bad team, just for flexibility' sake. But next year's 1st and a 3rd this year from a bad team sounds pretty appealing, too.

The thought of THREE 1st round picks in 2012 (one of them from a bad team) in a rookie capped year sounds pretty appealing. But there's also the risk of the 2012 draft not happening. Sooo. Hmmm.

The difference though is that a team like NO figures it's pick in 2012 is going to be in the late to mid 20's anyway, while a team like Washington or SF knows their's won't be. So they'd be less willing to move what will likely be a top 15 pick next year with their 2nd this year. NO gave us the 56th this year for our 28. So they moved up 28 spots. I don't see a team giving the Pats a top half of the draft 1st next year, plus this years second which is in the top half of the round, to move up anywhere from 2-15 spots in the 2nd round. I hope they do, but I just don't see it.

Cincinnati supposedly was trying to trade up to 32 to get Andy Dalton but they couldn't get a deal done.

I think #35 and Cincy's 4th should seal the deal then see who Buffalo picks and do it again or just pick Brooks Reed at 35. There should be some good IOL at the top of the 4th.
