IMO We are picking an OLB - Akeem Ayers or Bruce Carter in round two

I highly doubt either of them are drafted by the Pats. I do not think they fit the scheme at all. They strike me as purely 4-3 OLBs.

What,no love for Stephen Paea?

No one talks about him, just the type that Belichicks drafts

The guy can lift a house...can he lift up an OL and toss him like a bean bag is the question

Stephen Paea would be best fitted at the nose position, and that is Vince's job and we also have Ron as back up, i don't see it happening.

Vince has moved about the line before when neccessary, while its his job at nose, you can never have enough huge strong ironman types on the front 3

I wish we knew more about Ty Warren's health

I'd been giving more thought about a potential scheme variation since Mike Reiss posted the NFP article about the apparent short-drop/quick-pass trend elevating the importance of interior rushers to counter and of OGs to protect. That led me to think that BB might be working his way into a more hybrid DL - something that more easily morphs between 3-4 and 4-3 on the fly (IOW, w/o extensive sub-personnel entering/leaving) and emphasizing the ability of 3-4 ends to kick inside. SO, that, in turn, got me thinking more about Jordan and Wilkerson, both of whom have played end and interior extensively while still being pretty close to BB's apparent prototype size (+/- 6050, +/- 300). But, then, he passed on both.

Among the remaining DL with whom the Pats have had reported pre-draft contact, Austin probably showed as the strongest and most athletic in Combine/Pro Day workouts with Bailey not too far behind. Jenkins and Ballard might be possibilities and Corbin Bryant (Northwestern) could be a later-round dark horse:

6033/297 - 5.08/40 - 1.75/10yd - 31 reps - 27.5 vert - 8'06" brd - 4.51/20s - 7.33/3cone
All those numbers are comparable to Wilkerson/Dareus and better than Liuget.

There's also Klug. He has extensive experience at DT, in spite of seeming a bit light for it (275), and he also put up some pretty decent agility numbers (for a DL) along with a 1.60 10-yd split.

He has stumps for arms; easy for OL guys to get to his body but I think he would be an intriguing pick.

Speaking of intriguing...tonight is where the action is for Patriot fans. I am glad I did not dump $65 for last night's party.

I have to agree with you on this but I wonder if you are aware that this is what Steve from Fall Ribba said on The Big Show last night? Eeek strange company to keep but he has a point; the Patriots are in OK shape on the DL; they need outside rushers.

I have to politely disagree with Herc on this point; if the Patriots wanted a 3-4 DE they had plenty of opportunities in first round to do this but they did not.

This is the order that I would rank them for day 2:

Jabaal Sheard
Jarvis Jenkins
Terrell McClain
Jurrell Casey
Allen Bailey
Pernell McPhee
Martin Parker
Chris Nield

(Can I have just have one Bill- please?)
