Really .... All of you draft gurus wanted Vernon Gholston a few years ago and were mad that we didn't get him. Then last year you were pissed that we picked Pro-Bowl Mccourty.

Have a little faith. Geesh.

No way.

Faceless internet heroes have much more idea than professional recruiters....

but your way is boring :)

This is a forum...if nobody *****ed it would be pretty boring. I don't have a problem with Solder but i would liked a pick at 28 but meh....i guess time will tell.

Every year, someone posts a thread like this. It's a rite of spring, and it's ridiculous every time. This is a message board. Questioning this sort of thing is what the place is for. Not only that, but the easy response is "How'd he do from 2005-2008"?, and there were a fair share of misses during that time.

No problem with the solder pick, still want to address pass rush and WR but overall not a bad day. I have come to the conclusion the Pats never really fall in love with a player. If their is an offer that can't be refused the patriots won't refuse it.

It's not even about that. It's about WAITING UNTIL THE DRAFT IS OVER before either celebrating or jumping off the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge.

Blame Goodell and the owners for putting the posters in a position of having only one round to analyze.

lol sorry about the broad brush ....

I don't disagree that we all should debate ... but calling the draft a failure is ridiculous at best. We are in Day 1 and got the best OT on the board. We still have the meat of the draft tomorrow.

Everyone seems to forget how many starters we picked up in rds 2 and 3 last year.

No one knows what these DE workouts were like.... why did they drop to 30 and 31? Why did Ingram go at 28?

But don'tcha know, the only thing that matters is having the draft in primetime.

No offense intended, but this is not necessarily true. At this point, it's just opinion, and it's certainly not a universal one.

This is not the fault of the posters, though. It's the fault of the Goodell/Owner crew that decided to go with just 1 round on day one. That leaves posters with only one round to evaluate. Just like last year, when the Patriots drafted a CB in round 1 when it was felt by most that there were bigger needs out there, you have to expect that people will be less than thrilled with taking a tackle this year.

The vagaries of the draft. Ponder went in the top half of the first round, too.

Was he the best available tackle, most had Castonzo and Carimi rated higher. Have to wonder why both ESPN and NFL Network crews seemed a little surprised.
