Miller and Dareus will go #2 and #3 IMO. I think the bold is very possible.

I think they want Jordan. He may be rated higher than Fairley in some teams' eyes and is a threat to go before 10 (Cowboys especially).

I think this is the case. Since we have the ammo, we might as well call around to see how desperate teams are to trade back - maybe we get a great deal for the pick. I don't think it means that we want to do this, but rather determine if a team may be undervaluing their pick based on a desire to move down.

I'm skeptical - it's either due dilligence or a smokescreen, IMO. If they did it, I'll be excited b/c I trust BB and know he generally knows what he's doing( ...and learned from his Chad Jackson mistake that you only trade up for guys with a strong commitment to the game. )

Our roster does need quality, not quantity, so I'm not opposed to trading up as a philosophy this year.

Right, it's mostly due diligence. Not to say that they won't make any such move. BB and the draft is one of the most unpredictable things in football.. but I would say it's just doing their homework and covering all the bases.

On top of which I am sure they are aware of which organizations are sieves when it comes to keeping secrets.

DeWayne Robertson, part deux. I don't buy it.

Edit: Gholston was Robertson, part deux. This is the third go around.

Belichick hates Miller's agent, so I doubt that's a possibility. He's moving up to target any one of Dareus, Fairley, Green, Jones, or Quinn. Either that or he's just doing his due diligence. Personally, if he is moving up, I hope it's for either Quinn or Dareus. That said, I expect Dareus to be gone by the time the Broncos pick.

If the Pats had struggled last season with such a young team then I could see the reason to stockpile more picks into next year,but the fact remains that while his team is very young it has come off a 14-2 regular season campaign so it's not like he is in a total rebuild phase and has to draft as many players as he can.

It's never good to be TOO young as an NFL team so it would make sense that BB decides to move up a pick or two and use up another pick at that time and take a player he feels will be a great one and fill a hole on an area that is in need...there are not many holes on this team so we don't need a lot of extra picks...if any.

Next season and the way the draft will run is in total limbo..any team that vaults into next season by gambling draft picks into next season is diving into a pool that is only half filled with water....I think this team is smarter than that.

Expect the unexpected as usual tonight and that may mean a change in the way NE shops around the draft......

Nothing personal, but I never understand the "hater" mentality. For years people have complained about the Patriots trading back and how bad their pass rush is, etc.

If the Patriots believe in Quinn, I believe in Quinn. Their pass rush sucks, you can go out and get twenty more run of the mill JAGS but in the NFL you need impact players.

The defense would have the following talent
Top 10 picks - Mayo, Quinn
First round picks - Wilfork, Warren, Stroud, Merriweather, McCourty
Second round picks - Cunningham, Brace, Chung, Spikes
Probowl players - Mayo, Wilfork, Mayo, Merriweather

Really there are no more excuses, get the edge rusher the need and then start kicking some butt.
