Ochmed Jones Final Mock Draft

This was by far the most difficult year in a long time to get a feel for where the Patriots are looking. BB has so much flexibility and so much ammunition it really makes this draft different from previous years.

#17 Trade down with New Orleans and pick up #88.

#24 OT Costanza BC. At the end of the day the fact that Dante worked out Costanza makes me think that BB is targeting OT early with the understanding that D line is deep and he can comeback and get another later. Could start from day 1.

#28 DE Wilkerson Temple. East coast guy with size and solid game tape against Penn State. Played some DE snaps and showed he can be an above average run stopper. Will need to get much stronger and probably require a red shirt year.

#33 OLB Sheard Pittsburgh. Explosive and brings an element on third and long that this team desperately needs. Strong commitment to run defense.

#60 OG Boling Georgia. Best pulling OG in the draft. Extremely versatile and smart. Could start immediately, but best if he gets a red shirt year.

#74 CB Harris Miami. Strong run defender and has the best closing/recovery speed in the draft. Excellent ST player. Needs technique work, but can help immediately as a dime back.

#88 RB Ridley LSU. Big back,team captain. He is a power back that carried the LSU offense at times last year. A junior with a lot of tread left on the tires. Since he will be the #3 back,we need a guy that can contribute on ST as well and Ridley had 25 ST tackles his last two years at LSU.

#92 FS Hill Florida. Boom or bust player with some physicality. Works best in zone and can contribute of ST while learning the defense.

#125 WR Moore Tenn. Classic #2 WR. Averaged 21 yards per catch. Stretch the defense player that runs excellent routes and has decent hands. Adjusts very well to the ball in the air.

#159 FB Marecic Stanford. Plays offense, defense and ST. Classic team first player and a personal favorite.

#193 OLB/ILB Keiser Stanford. Another personal favorite. Tremendous upside if he can get bigger and stronger. Can contribute on ST while working hard with Nash.

92 seems like a huge reach for Hill as a player, and I wouldn't consider drafting him after reading some of the things he said on Twitter.

Earlier in this process I stated I was happier with the talent pool for Day Three then I was with the higher rounds, that certainly hasn't changed. It is for that reason I now see RB and OLB as stronger early possibilities than I might have another year.

Just trying to plug potential holes in the O-line with the type of kids Scar prefers is an exercise in frustration. There are some who are just so close, and will need to be overdrafted based on current projections.

And I can't wait until Bill starts trading back and into 2012 leaving the one or two I think I've identified sitting there forlornly on the board for someone else to snap up. Draft anxiety!

Interesting draft. I like some of the things you did here. I'm curious to who was left on the board at 17...or maybe Costanzo was their guy all along and they gambled he'd be there. Or somebody else and lost that gamble

I like what you did with the first two picks.

Of all the DE converts we've talked about, I have the least confidence in Sheard being able to play OLB in Belichick's defense. Explosive? Yes. Can get off blocks? Yes. Dependable tackler? Yes. Leader? Yes. But he's also very much a straight-line guy. I think he's a poor fit here.

This is part of the draft where we all differ depending on whom our favorites are. I like the Moore and Keiser picks. Hate the Hill and Marecic picks. Don't love but could live with Ridley. Keeping with the same positions, I'd replace Ridley with Delone Carter, Hill with Colin Jones, and Marecic with Charles Clay. Marecic was great to watch at Stanford, but I don't want somebody on my team who had to be talked into playing professional football.

This might literally cause my head to explode.

I think I've got a pretty good track records when it comes to UF players. If you remember, I told everyone here that I wasn't that high on Chad Jackson or Jarvis Moss. I also told people that guys like Percy Harvin, Brandon Spikes, and Aaron Hernandez were studs.

Stay away from Will Hill. The kid is trouble. He's not nearly as good as he thinks he is, and he's got an enormous amount of baggage.

To put this another way... even with the pot arrests, I'd consider using a draft pick on Janoris Jenkins. I wouldn't sign Will Hill if he were a UDFA.
