Mike Mayock's First Round Mock

He's also doing a show at 8:00 pm on his final mock per NFL.com (NFL network)

He specifically said the patriots wouldnt be drafting locker. just has locker going in that slot

Looks like he's saying that the Pats would trade out of that spot if Locker is there and another team is interested in jumping in?

he's not really mocking Locker to us he's just saying thats where he thinks he will be picked. I'd be happy with that news as it would mean the NE trade extravaganza has now begun

okay, I was thinking he was saying that, but it wasn't clear to me.

I think his mock show tonight will be the last of all the mocks I look at. As JeffBiologist said in another thread "I am mocked out"

Jordan is a possibilty at 17, although if Bowers is still on the board, he needs to be considered there depending on medical reports of course.

I like Mayock, but there's no way the Patriots take Locker at 28.

I believe he means that the pats will trade the pick for a team wanting Locker. They can't draft and trade Locker without a CBA.

I disagree with Mayock, regarding pick #33,which I believe becomes more attractive because it is owned by BB
Teams would rather trade with him because he has no reason to try to gouge the buyer,as the Pats don't need to.Many GM's have mentioned that BB is fair and honest in trade dealings.Since he is likely to deal the pick to a team with the worst 2012 prognosis,it puts additional pressure on a "better" 2011 team to bump up their 2011 2nd or third round offer.

I don't care a lick,that the Patriots "only" have 5 draft choices in 2012....optimum,to me, would be 2 #1's and 2 #'2's....that's it....Don't need no more,imho.

That makes sense then, and Locker is a good player but I don't see him as a good value to any team in that slot.

Here's a thought: Can't help wondering how different this draft would be if Carolina still had #33. Then they wouldn't HAVE to take a QB at 1. Thanks Panthers!

Teams trade up for

28 Locker
32 Dalton

Considering next years fantastic offensive line group, I would seriously consider trading 28 and 33 for 2 extra 1sts next year to get the center and left tackle of the future.

I still think they should trade up for Fairley, he's the dominant defensive player they need.

So very true. I still think they shouldn't, but they probably feel obligated to take Newton at the top.

I'd be willing to give them #33 for their 3rd and a 1st next year. But I don't think anyone in Carolina wants to deal with Belichick again for a while.

In all the years of looking at mock drafts, I can't recall a draft where I've seen a QB or any position mocked to a spot and not a team. Let alone twice.

I'm curious why he has Jordan going to the Pats when he's said many times that he thinks Watt is the best 5-tech in the draft. Maybe he's heard something?

Mayock would agree with you.

Albert Haynesworth Jr says thank you.
