Wednesday Morning Links: schedule release, a reporter upset with Belichick, and more
By: John Morgan

Several links today, ranging from analysis of the schedule, to a Globe reporter apparently being upset with Bill Belichick, to potential draft pick previews, and more....

Re: Wednesday Morning Links: schedule release, a reporter upset with Belichick, and m

prospective draft prospects

What are these anyway?

Re: Wednesday Morning Links: schedule release, a reporter upset with Belichick, and m

"Boston Globe’s Greg Bedard on twitter: “The suddenly chatty Bill Belichick, who won’t be talking with local media before the draft, spoke with Sirius NFL Radio for 16 minutes today.”

The apparently miffed Bedard and his stopwatch weren’t through, as he let it be known that he still isn’t over being stood up at the recent coaches meeting in New Orleans in his column on that interview, Belichick talks about the draft...

Last year when Bedard returned home to replace Albert Breer at the Globe he seemed like a breath of fresh air; a level-headed reporter who tried to be objective rather than only look for the negative (e.g., Ron Borges or Chris Gasper) in anything the Patriots (or more specifically, Bill Belichick) did. Between Bedard’s reaction to that breakfast meeting and this commentary, my guess is his journalism will more closely resemble Gasper’s than what we saw from him last fall."

Typical mediot. It's all about HIM and how coaches suck up (or don't) to him. BB spends time with the excellent SIRIUS radio guys because he respects their knowledge and they ask insightful football detailed questions which BB always responds to respectfully. Try it sometime, Bedard.

This mindset is the singular reason why the non-traditional media are trouncing these self centered narcissists in every rating category. I love it whenever they're upset. Watching them whine (or reading it, in Prisco's case) makes me smile and is a major reason why I have loved the BB tenure in New England.

Cry me a river... Boring Broadsheet Buffoon!

Big thanks to everyonne who checked out my first blog this morning.

As far as BB being pissed at reporters, this shouldn't be a shocker to anyone.

No kidding. I'll have to check out your blog, too.

earlier posters nailed it --- I'd just like to echo above sentiments x10.

I'm sure with that attitude he'll be getting plenty of access in the future, too.

Yay... Pats fans really needed another voice that takes every little comment and makes it a huge diss on the Patriots. Yes everyone is out to get the Patriots. They are not your kids stop being so serious. Bedards comment was norhing what you guys make it out to be.

The medium has become the message, Bedard got some face time...

When the season starts and he is ignored in press conferences, he will wonder why doesn't BB like me.. perhaps he is a Ron Borges Apprentice.

Re: Wednesday Morning Links: schedule release, a reporter upset with Belichick, and m

one thing about Patriot fans is we take everything to heart.

Spygate
18-1

but you have to remember this is coming from a fan base of teams who haven't finished in the top 2 in their divison, made a playoff game, or been a threat in years.

Patriots need to keep doing what they are doing and they will be fine

To complain about that, is like complaining about a person going to a doctor for a broken arm instead of a pharmacist.

Bedard should realize the pecking order.. Kirwan and Miller are the best in the business and not only come with years of experience in the media but actual jobs in the sport. Kirwan and Miller have a relationship with BB..

Re: Wednesday Morning Links: schedule release, a reporter upset with Belichick, and m

"(insert team name) is good on offense, tough on defense, sharp on special teams. (insert coach name) will have them well prepared, they've done a great job on both sides of the ball this year and have given everyone a tough go so far. great win today, but time to start preparing for (insert team name) on Tuesday

I actually emailed Greg on the story. He responded rather quickly and stated his POV. While I still think his initial opening paragraph in the article was sour, I understand his point. He feels BB should sit down and talk to the local fan base on a non paid service, which I agree on, if we had the right moderator.. (even though I have sirius)..

Re: Wednesday Morning Links: schedule release, a reporter upset with Belichick, and m

Why, just so they can have more ammo when he says something they can twist for their own benefit? He gives us everything he can between the lines every weekend, as long as the season lasts for our team. After he's done as a coach of the Pats, he can say and do whatever he wants. He owes me nothing.

I don't want this to come across as any attack or slight against you, but this is a ridiculous load.
to think that bedard is really concerned about the fanbase rather than his own job and ego is a huge stretch, and would be pretty naive, I think.

there is really not a whole lot of meaningful info that belichick would feel comfortable putting out in the media, and rightfully so.
he communicates to the fanbase on free weei radio every week --- he doesn't owe it to every sports 'journalist' in new england to give them quotes to better lure in readers, and parasite prestige.

bedard can thank his brothers and sisters in cleveland, not to mention nationally, if he has a problem with belichick being less accessible than he cares for.

hahahaha.....from his twitter

The Bills allow access to scouts week before draft and they comment on prospects? Bravo. (Cue, 'No wonder they stink.')

I can see where this train's headed.

No worries, you and I are on the same page. I brought up the WEEI Monday Interviews during the season, which is free. Bedard point was the voice of the franchise hasn't talk to the local media since the season has ended. Which again I stated in my email is BB has a relationship with Kirwan that predates being the coach for the Pats. There is a mutual respect there. I finished off asking him to be the anti-borges and not fall into the trap that so many of his brothers fall into. Write the facts and don't sound sour, this town will really appreciate it.
