Five Worst Owners in the NFL

Although those five are all worthy of consideration, personally I would have found room for William Clay Ford of the Lions. Tough to leave Mike Brown (Bengals) and Bill Bidwell (Arizona) off a list such as this too. Jerry Richardson in Carolina and the Glazers in Tampa Bay are a couple more that seem like they couldn't care less about the team's fans and look down at them in the name of profits over wins.

You may need to expand this list to ten, or a dirty dozen; in that case perhaps Jacksonville's Wayne Weaver and the Bills' Ralph Wilson get included, though in their defense they are in difficult situations due to the markets their teams are in.

Cincy is a mess and Marv Lewis is a big reason why. He has no control over anyone on that team.

Jacksonville I blame the league for putting a team there. I compare it to having hockey in Phoenix and Tampa Bay, it just isn't practical.

A lot of teams have hurt themselves over the last 10-15 years, those 5 were the ones that came first of mind.

Where is Kraft on that list?

He's the worst!

We haven't won a Super Bowl in nearly 7 years!

the only thing Kraft gets put on the worst list for is those awful white tipped dress shirts.

I agree with those who add Ralph Wilson Jr. and Michael Brown to the list, plus any other owners who don't promote their brand by selling naming rights to their stadiums and then cry "poverty" at the CBA bargaining table.

I understand putting Jones on the list for "style" reasons, but few owners do more to promote the NFL and its brand than does Jones, so I'd probably not put him among the five worst. I'd leave Dan Snyder on for persistent foolishness in the player decisions he has made.

Not to nitpick, but the Lightning are actually quite popular down here. Lightning games are almost always full, much more so that the current Bucs or the Rays.

I should have said the Panthers, but yes agreed on the Bucs and Rays. Raymond James Stadium is very nice too from what I hear!

No Mike Brown? Epic article fail. He should be number 1

I live in Pa and was once a Winnipeg Jets fan and am now a Phoenix Coyotes fan since the franchise moved into USA South

I would have to say from all the years as a Winnipeg fan and all the years as a Coyotes fan,the Phoenix fans are by far better and more faithful to their team than they ever were up in Canada...if they go back to Canada next season I will be pissed to say the least.

You really have no idea what you are talking about when you say that Phoenix is not a practical place for hockey....because it is,people love hockey in Arizona, even if its 100 degrees in the shade.

The fans were cheering loudly after the game despite last nights sweep by the Red Wings to what may have been their last game in Arizona,a classy act by classy fans.

Mike Brown, who doesn't invest in scouting, and who generally is so cheap that players including his QB want to leave, deserves a very high spot on the list.

Crappy, lazy article.

Really, who writes about how inept an NFL owner is, and then "'can't be bothered" to research their recent draft history?

Thats the first and last article I read of Mr Porcupine (I can't be bothered to research the proper spelling)

Yup; good point. It reminds me of the lazy sots in the Boston media who would "watch" Patriots practices and not see anything while grinding out daily drivel about contracts or human-interest background stories on guys who are sure to be cut.

You also have to wonder how some of these idiots owner got so rich; did they sue their way to the top?

Wellington Mara was a meddlesome owner who made some bad football decisions but he seemed like a a very nice guy unlike Snyder. The Giants in the TIsch era had good drafts except for horrific first-round choices; I have always wondered if Tisch was making the first round picks each year.

I'd have to say that Brown is worse than Spanos.. And Ralph Wilson has to be mentioned.. He's one of the biggest issues with the CBA currently..

Of that list, Jones and Davis are the only ones who have a hand in the drafting of players.. Look at the last 4 years of Cowboys drafts.. They haven't exactly been filled with a bonanza of talent. They've been pretty mediocre beyond Felix Jones, Tashard Choice and Dez Bryant.

If character is a criterium, then Woody "Satan worshiper" Johnson has to top the list...

I hate to join in beating someone when he's down, but I agree, that was a bad effort by the writer. Three of those five have won multiple SB's yet he ranks Dan Snyder who has won one playoff game in 11 years ahead of them? Even Spanos has made it to a couple of AFCC's.

No one on that list comes close to insulting and mistreating one's own fanbase the way Snyder has.

People should do some research or put more thought into their articles.

"Worst owners" ?????
What the **** does that mean? Jones and Snyder are raking in huge $$$$. Do you think their accountants think their bosses are the worst owners? San Diego is in the hunt every year....man that owner must suck. Denver....the owner who owned football for a decade all of a sudden is one of the worst?
You know, I love the messageboard content at PatsFans...but their feature articles always lack depth and insight. It's like reading a small town newspaper, that gotta write about something to fill up the those pages.
