I'm a little bored so i thought i'd make my first thread on this forum.Welker is a tough SOB for returning as soon as he did and playing as well as he did but he definately didn't look the same during the 2010 season and that was to be expected considering the injury he suffered.

He's turning 30 very soon and my question is can Welker return to beast mode Welker(from 09) for next season? And in regards to the future how do you see his contract working out? I'm i'm not mistaken he is a free agent after the 2011 season.

He looked very good at the end of last season to me. I'm no doctor, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him take the same step Brady did going from 2009 to 2010.

Welker hasn't made all THAT much money over the course of his career. His next contract will be with whoever pays the most.

Interesting...you don't think he would be willing to play in NE even if it is for less money?

Yeah i think he will put his family first and take the most money. Dont forget hes gonna lose a step or 2 in the next couple of years.

His next contract will be for a significant fraction (potentially over half) of his entire lifetime earnings.

Not gonna count Wes out before a possible monster season, but Edelman shows promise if Wes doesn't work out. Can't get too attached to big players while Belichick runs the show.

I don't believe he's married nor does he have children, if I recall correctly. Of course, he could have other family, i.e. parents, siblings who are alive, etc.

There was nothing wrong with WW last season. What happened was Moss being traded and he got more attention because of that and his numbers went down because of that.

Parents and one older brother.

I disagree...he had quite a few drops that were on him and he didn't show the same quickness...that was probably because of the injury but can that level of quickness return? i always hated the argument that Welker's success was just because of Moss and i think that diminishes his performance. Even when Moss was here i think Welker was the go-to guy. He kept the offense moving and i'm sure quite a few DC's had nightmares planning for him.

He was nowhere close to the player he had been during the first half of last year which should have been expected coming off the injury. It had little to nothing to do with Moss as Welker's production was off when Moss was still here. In the 2nd half of the year, Welker looked much quicker, more comfortable, and he was back to being an impact player on offense.

His pre-injury form may be tough to attain. To put it in perspective it was the greatest 3 year span of any slot WR in football history. If he can continue to perform at the level he was at late last year that is more than good enough.

Two if you count his brother from another mother...Tommy. Wes won't go anywhere else unless he's literally forced to. He's also a smart enough guy to know factoring in playoff shares and endorsements $$ (including post career) is tied to opportunity and marketability and QB/HC creating a consistent buzz atmosphere around you...

They were beyond fair with him last time. In fact many here were equally upset with his contract as they were with his trade price...
