Is there a Richard Seymour Replacement in This Draft??

Maybe a dumb question from a non-draft person...but is there a player that has the same body type, semi-under the radar, beast potential in this draft...within our reach?

He's not even close to being under the radar, but IMO JJ Watt is the guy you're looking for. It would be awfully risky to wait and hope he drops to 17. Possible, but very iffy. But I don't think he'll go so high that it would cost too much to move up for him.

There won't be another Seymour for a while. He was literally perfectly made for the 3-4 end position. JJ Watt is the closest, with elite height and length, pretty good bulk with room to add plenty more, elite athleticism, and elite work ethic. Give him a year in the weight room and he'd be the second best DE the team has had in recent history.

I have the Pats trading up to #10 to get him in my most recent mock. He could be around at 17, but there are too many DE-needy teams in the 12-16 range, plus there's always the chance of a team like SD trading up, which they have been known to do if they see a guy they like.

He's a possibility, I also like Muhammad Wilkerson long term. Either of these kids has a sharp learning curve, Watt has faced better competition, but he's still very raw overall. In terms of intangibles, I'm prepared to bet on these kids finding the right balance in their professional lives to take them far.

Thanks for reminding me! Fairley belongs on the footsteps of Seymour trail; like the others, raw is the word, but the potential is there.

Maybe it's me, but it seems like people here forget thatm due to injuries or whatever else was going on, there were many games and seasons when Richard Seymour was not Richard Seymour. There were plenty of games when he was not double-teamed and was pretty much a no-show. IMO Since he left, too many people are making a really good player a legend.

He was a four-year contributor, been highly productive, was a captain and team leader, an every down player, solid against both the run and the pass. People knock the guy because they said he didnt show up in every game, but he was also the focus of every offense he faced the last 2 years. He's really our kind of guy.

Great handle, Even greater football mind. This guy gets it. Cam heyward is going to make alot of teams regret not taking him, similar to wilfork. I just hope we are not one of them.

I would take a 80% of Seymour where we are now!!!!!

As long as we do not take Oline but get the DE goods when available I will be happy.

There are a lot of groceries to pick from!!!!!

If that's what your lying eyes tell you, mine saw Larimore drawing double-teams while Heyward struggled with singletons. I agree the talent is there, we saw it in the bowl game, but I'm not a fan of late season charges unless an early injury was a factor.

guys like Seymour come around once every few years and go in the top 5 so no i dont see the pats geting anyone as good as Seymour but they can and i think they will get a good starting DE
