I know you may find this hard to believe but I checked the official roster and it true... only one punter. Unbelievable! I hope this guy eats his wheaties.

We are just one injury away from being punterless.

We should cut a WR or something and get another punter.

I have also noticed this fact. I question who is punting the ball

to potential return people during the rookie mini camps. The Pats

did have an unsigned UDFA , Sam Paulescu, try out right after the

draft but did not sign him.

I may be wrong, but most teams carry only one, with the kicker as b/up. I don't recall a time when we've officially carried more than one punter. Wouldn't be surprised that someone else on the active roster has some experience with punting, that could fill in, should both kicker and punter go down in the same game. Seems to me that happened just last year, can't remember which team.

I think one will be in camp to be with Miller...standard is 2 snapper, 2 kicjers and 2 punters... It will happen...

AHHHHHHH there goes yet another Super Bowl that passes us by.

How can anyone not hate this move from BB? What a joke!

(I see some people in this thread didn't get the sarcasm from Lloyd. I'm sure you all saw the "We only have ONE wide receive" thread, right?)

Well he should have started a "1 punter vs 2 punters" thread. It would have been cool if he would have had a poll, then we could have voted on how many punters.

Come on Lloyd, the whole of Patriots Nation crys out to be heard on this vital issue.

Patschick -
I am pretty sure that Lloyd was being sarcastic.

This confirms it... half the people here don't know what the F*$& I'm talking about!

lol... yes, I was joking. I almost added that we only have ONE offensive lineman, except the other 15 who don't count because ... (insert ridiculous excuses here)

See -- this is WHY BB should read this board -- if he would have only read this post from back in March -- he would have known that we only had one punter on the roster and we wouldn't have to had to desperately sign Walter this time of the year.

(sarcasm)

LOL

Wonderful !

A great commentary about lack of depth.

On a more serious note, I seem to recall either or both of Brown and or Brady punting at least once?!? Pooch punting anyone on third down?

I know Flutie is available, maybe the Pats could give him a call.

March? You mean June? ;)

More important than all of them.... is that we only have ONE NEM.....:)
Thank you Lord.

Lloyd, I think I hurt something while giggling - bad Lloyd, naughty!

People shouldn't be giggling. This is a really serious problem. Even proven veterans like Ken Walter have difficulty functioning in our complex kicking scheme. I don't see where, if he goes down, we can just get another punter to step in.

As we all know, Belichick likes to convert his NFL punters from ball boys, and I believe he is on record that that is pretty much a 4 year process. Apart from unproven Danny Baughter on the practice squad, I don't see a lot of punters in the Patriots personnel pipeline. This nickel and diming approach in free agency isn't going to cut it. We need to invest a high-round draft pick, and I've been calling for this for years.

Its a Punter, come guys, I'd just as soon have Testiverde punt if need be, what else has he got to do anyway? What is needed is a linebacker, now that Seau is down. Why waste money on a high priced punter ( wow, I can't believe I said that, High Priced punter) when its least important part of the game. I said least important no unimportant, when CB's, WR's and LB's and maybe a lineman or two is where the Pats are lacking.

We have the first round picks, we really should be looking hard at punter with that opportunity. :D
