First as contingency plan for Warren, and second as someone to split time with a developmental rookie right end. Warren will likely land on the PUP, but barring his injury being a Bo Jacksonian death blow he will absolutely make the team.
I would like to think having the surgery late last summer would mean he wouldnt need PUP.
It's a hip, man. Most important part of the body in football. Every bit of training you do comes from there. I could be wrong, but I bet it took along time for him to be able to train again.
but didn't he have the hip surgery last year at the beginning of the season. He has been rehabbing since then, correct? I would think that if that is the case, then there wouldn't be any reason he isn't healthy enough for camp.
Rosie Colvin had a difficult rehab. Never had the speed and power return.
Colvin had a different surgery. Colvin totally dislocated his hip which is potentially career threatening. Warren had a torn labrum which is far less severe.
No reason a professional athlete can't get back on the field 12 months after torn labrum surgery. Whether he's effective is another question completely.

So how do you project the current situation and surgery of Aaron Hernandez then, jay? Same thing I assume?
Is PUP a serious possibility for Hernandez in your opinion? It is in mine, especially considering that he only recently (6-8 weeks IIRC) actually had the surgery. I'd be surprised if he returns to play half the season, but I don't want to sound pessimistic either.
I have no idea, dude, none at all. Even if I tried to infer anything from the moment of injury I'd be full of cheet. The only thing I have to base an opinion on is the fact that he got reps post injury and wasn't immediately tossed on IR. In the playoffs you obviously need every body available and unless we're talking a guy with Tom Brady type importance it doesn't make sense to give up a roster spot for hopes of a Superbowl recovery. So, yeah, I'd expect him to be good to go.
Ty Warren on the other hand, had a torn hip labrum that required surgery which is typically a four to six month recovery time. Tack on two months to recover the atrophied muscle and another two or three to get back into shape to be able to train at a high level. From there I'd assume another two months until we're talking playing condition.
I really have no clue but I think we're talking two completely different injuries.
On the other hand he is BY FAR the best DE on the roster, so I don/t know how that puts him on any type of bubble.hasn't played much in recent years and is on the wrong side of 30. Of course he's on the bubble.
