Step forward Jeremy Shockey.

Scenario: You are on a three game slide and in the run up to what is the biggest game of your season thus far against your major divisional rivals. Your team is in near meltdown with coaching/QB controversies and more in-house dissent than the Cincinnati Bengals

You are a leader on your team.

Do you?

a) talk humbly about the challenge ahead and getting things right on Sunday

b) issue an emotional rallying call to your warring teammates

c) talk some trash to your opponents, declaring that there is "no way in hell" they beat you" thus handing them some prime motivational material

If you're Tom Brady, you probably do "a". If you're Carson Palmer, "b". If you're a prime time ass wipe, you do c and further inflame an already combustible situation, as per Shockey (who has not covered himself in glory this season with his public commentary on the Giants) in this report.

Once again, we see the wisdom of the team-building approach the Patriots have adopted, as well as the way the players have subscribed to the one-for-all team philosophy.

In all likelihood, the Cowboys needed no more motivation for this game than getting past the Giants into the division winning slot, but even so, this just seems dumb, dumb, dumb.

I apologise for my apparent profanity. But is a**hole really a swear word? Really?

I agree it is dumb but the Cowboys are 1-3 in their division and they are heading to NY, this will either be a come together game or the game that sends the Giants to a 6-10 record.

If nothing else it makes for interesting drama. :D

ESPN just showed a clip of Michael Strahan sort of throwing teammate Plaxico Burress under the bus for giving up on a pass from Eli, which Pacman Jones intercepted, but Burress probably could have knocked down with his wingspan. He also made a weak effort to tackle Jones on the return. Burress looks like a poor man's Randy Moss. Giants are messed up right now but a win over Dallas would make everything hunky-dory.

Why do you think Cower and the Steelers let him go without attempting to resign him? They had seen enough to knew he was a punk jackass, just like TO.

Would anyone care if this wasn't a NY team beloved of the (NY-based) national media ?

I'm sick of the whole NFC East dominating the media coverage of the NFL.

Have to wonder if the extremely tight reigns and military atmosphere of Coughlin contributes to this type of outbursts that seem to continually happen with this team. The whole thing looks like a combination of egomainiacs who are led by a control freak.

While I'm all for Shockey getting some props for his continued ***holedness (sic), Strahan is giving him a run for the money after teeing of on that female reporter from ESPN. He b!tched about Plexiglass giving up on the INT play (at least) to the press then complained about the press reporting that he questioned Plexiglass.

At first I wondered if Strahan wasn't just helping Eli out a little by following up Manning Minor's veiled criticism of Burress. But on reflection it would appear he's just doing the same @sshole routine as the rest of them.

Sure seems to run rampant there, eh? The whole team from the coaching staff on down has verbal diarrhea.

I'm thinkin' the Giants have co-winners this week. It's nice to spread it around.
