Interesting article, as I scanned back in my memory.
Shula also had another QB that is in the Hall of Fame. However, that relationship was less than amiciable. Unitas, the Colts and Shula were like oil and water. So you can't always take a great QB and a great coach and come up with a good team......

I would probably rate Lombardi/Starr #1, 5 Titles in 7 years.

I would at this point see BB/Brady > Montana Walsh. If they win another SB it would seal the deal, especially given the FA rules the other guys didn't have to deal with.

I would also associate Unitas with Weeb Eubank more than Shula.

Weeb and Unitas took the Colts to two consecutive NFL championships and then Weeb and Namath won SBIII over Shula and Unitas.

Lombardi/Starr was ridiculously successful, but problem ranking them as a pair is that Lombardi did everything he could to ensure that Starr was not the focus of his offense. That holds them a notch below our guys in my view.

With Walsh and Belichick, the QBs are much more central, but the Niners practically had a decade long monopoly on Pro-Bowlers, so I don't know how anyone could make a decent case for Montana being more valuable to his franchise than Brady is to the Pats.

These S.I. lists are so sterile and predictable.

Instead of number rankings I've organized my list into levels...(I'll leave off my methodology for each tandem but I've written a ton on this very subject).

It's just far too subjective to rank these tandems by number...
