Prisco rips BB

Does the moron even know why he didnt show up? Maybe he had a family emergency, sick family member or something. He should probably have found out why before spouting off.

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick basically stuck out his middle finger to the other 31 coaches in the NFL Tuesday.
I believe that middle finger was stuck out at you and your brethern.

Since it's the football Dead Zone time I read this article.

Prisco is like a middle school girl feeling hurt when stood up by the popular kids. So BB slips out of a press breakfast which hurts the massive egos of the oh-so-important writers, most of who do not have the intelligence and/or do not spend the time to understand the salary cap rules for the sport they cover as their "profession'. I could not have less respect for these doofuses.

Prisco calling anyone arrogant is supreme irony.

+1

BB has skipped these in the past as they aren't mandatory. This isn't like blowing off a league mandated press conference. I love how BB sticks it to the media. Love it!

PWP I read it for the same reason, and had to share it just to balance out the disgust, it is just bad journalism and foolishness all the way around.

He's either a clown who doesn't do enough research to know that it wasn't a mandatory session, or he knew and still wrote that it was, in which case he should be immediately fired.

I wonder how often sports writers believe what they write and say, and how often they just do it to create controversy an audience in order to generate revenue.

Using the word arrogant right after the name Belichick is a low form of pandering to the masses, even more so when it is in the headline. An obligatory spygate reference in the column makes it even more obvious.

There's no free agency to write about and with the lockout in place the only other scheduled event is the draft; so writers reach for a story to create news.

Prisco isn't the only one to jump on this. Greg Bedard and Shalise Manza-Young at the Globe are whining about it too, saying "Belichick should have talked today because Patriots fans deserve to hear about the team. He didn't talk at the combine. There's a lockout. What you would have heard today could likely be the final comment on Patriots football until September."

When asked "so he won't talk on draft day?" Bedard said "I don't know." One person said to Bedard "Fans deserve? Fans don't care." to which Bedard responded "you haven't read my emails."

Belichick did speak yesterday, but it was a whole lot of nothing with his responses; I'm not sure why Bedard feels as though today would have been any different.

SMY pointed out that "while it is not a requirement that coaches attend the breakfast, since they must attend the league meetings, the breakfast is placed on their schedule as a courtesy to the media covering them" and knew precisely how much time Belichick spent with them yesterday (7 minutes and 38 seconds according to her stopwatch).

It seems to me what it comes down to is that some reporters like Prisco and New York Post writer Bart Hubbach (who wrote "31 coaches showed up for the NFL media breakfast. Only exception: Belichick. Once again Bill acts like the rules don't apply to him. I hear Belichick had a legit excuse for his no-show today: He was busy studying illicit videotape of opponents' defensive signals.") simply jump on anything Belichick does and disparage him because they know it's money in their pockets. Other like Bedard and SMY get upset because covering him and the Pats is a more difficult job than covering a coach like Ryan (note Hubach's very next comment: "no surprise, on the other hand that Rex was epic this morning. Held court for more than an hour. Great stuff ...") and the Jets, for example.

When exactly did the reason for these meetings specifically and the job of a coach in general become to entertain the media?

One last comment: kudos to CSNNE's Mary Paoletti for calling out Hubbach with her "you're an NFL reporter?" response to him. And kudos also to writers like Christopher Price and Mike Reiss who continue to find interesting topics to write about even if Belichick isn't talking, and making that the story.

The whole "Patriot fans want to hear from BB" argument that lazy sports writers use as an excuse is bull. Price and Reiss do just fine giving me information that I find interesting.

Even if BB showed up and talked the lazy sports writers would moan as BB would give them nothing of substance.

I love BB's approach to the media.

Belichick The Arrogant - CBSSports.com

He tends to do this type of writing when given the chance.

The question is, why is he given the chance to write about sports.

Love how he makes up fake mind reading quotes of the other coaches because he has nothing. mark of a true hack.

I can tell you this: Several coaches were more than aware that he wasn't there and weren't thrilled that they had to be and he wasn't there.

I just hope one of them has the guts to call him out on it. Rib him about it.

"So your time is more valuable than ours?" they should say.

Why wouldn't you? He's just a peer, even if he sometimes acts like he isn't.

I imagine Prisco at this point was saying "Are there enough words in this article yet, so I'll get paid?"

Yeah, he has nothing to say. Do they want to watch him eat?

NEW ORLEANS -- New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick basically stuck out his middle finger to the other 31 coaches in the NFL Tuesday.

How else can you explain his not attending a supposedly mandatory media breakfast here at the NFL league meetings?

The other 31 coaches all showed up, some probably a bit reluctantly, but not Belichick.

And word is the league will do nothing about it.

Belichick The Arrogant - CBSSports.com

Belichick, who spoke with the media shortly on Monday, has skipped the breakfast occasionally in the past. Belichick will not be fined: The league asks coaches to show up for the interviews, but does not require them to be there.

Bill Belichick blows off breakfast | ProFootballTalk

Pretty simple, Pete.

And here is his :Dexcuse:D

"Sorry I missed you this morning. Alarm clock just didn't go off," he cracked.

Sounds reasonable enough to me :D

I wish readers could sue supposed journalists for the misinformation they publish.

These folks are probably worried that, if they don't make Belichick's life difficult, other coaches will realize that he's onto something and start following his lead. Then they've had to actually start impersonating journalists. As jmt already pointed out, there are people who are actually dedicated to their craft who make it work, and clowns like Prisco end up looking even worse because Belichick won't spoonfeed them their stories. Add ego and an inferiority complex, and you get a pretty combustible mix.

I think Brucie is on target..."If Belichick is snubbing someone, I suspect it might be the league, and specifically Roger Goodell. It's my opinion that there is a ton of behind-the-scenes animosity there, both from how things were handled in 2007, to Goodell's comments to Peter King prior to this year's Super Bowl. Belichick seems like he doesn't want to do a single thing he isn't required to do in these situations, and this was an example. He came down and talked later. On his own schedule."

I think there's LOTS of animosity from BB towards Goodell. I don't blame Bill a bit.

neither do I and if so, my respect for Bill has just taken another quantum leap...this fumbling, bumbling, empty headed cat's paw deserves nothing but derision from the Patriots,BB and fans of the team. Until he's removed and sinks into obscurity,as he deserves,I will never be satisfied.
