With all the money ... the owners are trying to get a different percentage, and bring in more money. I understand that. These are business-minded people. Of course, this is what they are going to want to do. I understand that. It's how they got to where they are now.

"But as players, we have to stand our ground and say, 'Hey, without us, there's no football.'"

Hey Adrian - I have news for you. Without the owners, you don't get paid a $7 figure salary.

Some people should just keep their mouths shut. Claiming his job is the equivalent of slavery??? Guy clearly doesn't know his frigging history.

Less anyone think this mentality exists only with players, this morning a wealthy industrialist outside of Buffalo (he's running for the US congress seat of Chris Lee, the guy who poses shirtless, flexes for transexuals) said that we could solve illegal immigration by busing blacks in from Buffalo to pick fruit in the fields.

In Adiran's defense, his Nike endorsement contract also requires him to make sneakers at $.07 an hour for 18 hours a day when he's not playing football.

His agent really should have read the fine print.

Anyway, Grant's comment is nice but also doesn't take it far enough. There are more people in slavery now than at any time in human history.

Poor choice of words by Peterson because he should have known that one sentence would make headlines. I wonder what the ratio is of people right now that are aware Peterson made the slavery analogy but are unaware of his next sentence, "there are people working at regular jobs who get treated the same way, too."

He'd have better off with a different analogy and recommending people read William Rhoden's Forty Million Dollar Slaves based on the point it appears he was attempting to make.

The ironic thing is what he is accusing the NFL of doing, he is taking money from Nike where they actually have factories that commit actual slave labor. Educating for Justice reports that between 25-50% of Nike's factories in Asia force their workers to work seven days a week for less than the region's minimum wage.
