Kenny Walter appreciation thread

I always liked the guy.

He sure did a nice job Sunday.I would still prefer Miller to be in there.But Walter is as good as any.

He's a great holder and he did well last game.

Plus he's playoff tested.

I remember the story he told about the Oakland and SB 36 kicks Vinatieri made that year. Just prior to each kick to loosen up Adam he'd joke: "Now where did I put those goddamn keys again?"

He may be the worst punter in the NFL. But at least his kicks usually arent returnable, they are so short, that the coverage gets there quicker, and hes decent at angling to the corner. A good holder though, and BB says that was a huge part of the decision.

Now, I'll say that it's possible he was told to punt high and short to slow down the Bears' great return game.

And his 45 yarder was sweet.

But then he had a 35 yard punt from our 43 to their 35. Yuck. It bounced out of bounds which made it OK with no return.

Then he had a 32 yard punt from our 24 to their 44. Fair catch.

The yardage and visuals of those punts were not good. Hopefully it was because Hester is a great returner.

If it was anything close to a good punt the Rams would not have left enough time on the clock for the Pats to score and then OT, who know what would have happened then.

That's fine but his leg looked as dead as last time we saw it. I would LOVE to be proven wrong this Sunday.

If it was anything close to a good punt the Rams would not have left enough time on the clock for the Pats to score and then OT, who know what would have happened then.

The one fact I remember from that course of events was Ricky Prohel slipping through all those tackles that allowed the Rams to score quickly.

I had forgotten about the bad punt.

If either of those don't happen, who knows.

I'm not sure if I would say I am a Kenny Walter fan, but I think we're lucky he was available given where we are in the season, when Miller was injured. He is far from the best punter in the league, he is far from the punter a healthy Josh Miller is, but he is at least a known quantity.

Gotta appreciate Walter. Even Aikman commented on his hang-time. Great holder. Kicked for us very well until the last yr. when he had a shoulder injury. If he's healthy now, we shouldn't see much dropoff over Miller. He used to be great at dropping it inside the 20.

And how about the ball boy? He knows just how to rub enough sheen off Tommy's balls so he can get that good grip.

Speaking of balls, has Walter commented on how Ghost likes his balls held? Does he hold them the same way as he held Adam's balls?

Our punter was Tom Yewcic back then. He was also the backup Quarteback.
