Jets coach Mike Westhoff told a group of youths at a New Jersey drug and alcohol treatment program that he'd rather beat the Pats than go to heaven.

Way to go helping these people in need get their priorities in order. There's probably a joke in there about Westhoff and drugs and alcohol too, but I'll refrain.

For those that may not recall, Westhoff was the coach who defended Sal Alosi for tripping the Dolphins player by trying to deflect blame away from Alosi by accusing the Patriots of doing the same thing.

The joke is on Westhoff, heaven doesn't exist.

And here I was thinking there might be at least four or five comments focusing on football before the thread was hijacked into a debate about religion ...

He'll probably get his wish

Something tells me that is not his choice to make. On further note, I don't think either will happen for him.

He works for the Jets. He sold his soul a long time ago. Heaven ain't an option for him at this point.

all very cogent points...thank you, sir

A liar and a cheater who threw a fellow coach under the bus to save his crusty old skin. He made that comment because he knew long ago that heaven for him isn't an option.

I'd rather beat the Jests than go to heaven, big deal

Reminds me of a horoscope printed in The Onion a while back: "You're half right: Heaven does not, in fact, want you, but Hell is not the least bit concerned that you might take over." ;)

lol, man people are really screwed up aren't they?

anyway, this westhoff guy....wound too tight for living, obviously

I'd rather see the Jets lose than go to heaven. Do I need my priorities straightened out?

Well, only if you end up in an afterlife in that place where Jets fans and ex-Jets players go

I sat next to Westhoff on a shuttle between NY and Boston when Ty Law played for the Jets. He was a pleasant enough guy and I saw none of the hate that he must have had or developed thereafter.

I hope he burns in hell for all of eternity.
